Re: 32 window crank knobs

Ok, I give up. What 32 do these handles you had made go to? I have never run across anything similar.

Re: Engine Problem

Also, do you know if the heads have been milled, moving the plugs closer to the valves?

Re: Found A Used 1940 Ford a Pickup Hood Ornament

Yeah Mike, I don't trust my memory much. That is why I usually preface anything I write here with "I believe, or I think"!! We all could probably use memory enhancing drugs!

Re: Car at auction

I really like 41 Mercs, something about that cool front end. If I wasn't full up and out of money I would be interested. In general post 40 cars don't interest me much but 41 Mercs are an...

Re: Tips On Installing Stock Exhaust Pipes

I put a Waldron's dual exhaust system on my 40 coupe and it took some very minor tweeks but it was pretty easy as I have a friend with an exhaust tubing machine.

Re: '37 Ford all locked up

Remember, NEW does not equal GOOD. I chased my tail for 2 weeks before an old timer asked me to try starting the car while he looked into the battery with a mirror. Sure enough, one cell of this...

Re: 1940 Ford Coupe Headliner Question

I know I have one and maybe both, I also have the 2 pieces that get covered with headliner material along the edge of the windshield down to the dash. PM me if you need these.

Re: H&h

I heard from a customer their water glass treatment lasts about 1 year before the cracks start leaking. I have no direct experience with them except talking to one of their reps at the Portland swap...

Re: Cobra Long grain vs short grain

You may not have much choice. Last time I did a fabric top you couldn't get the short grain. At least that was the case when I did my station wagon.

Re: Question on Cam Gear Marks - UPDATE

I would have the distributor set up on a machine by someone in the know of how to set up a helmet.. Is the line to the vacuum brake hooked up with no leaks? Maybe try unscrewing the adjustment on...

Re: hunting a ghost problem in my '47

Electrical problems often are intermittent and those are the hardest to find.

Re: No Oil Pressure While Cranking

Do you have a mechanical gauge on it? If you are cranking it with the switch in the off position the stock gauge wouldn't be in play. I would try it again, I don't think those stock oil filters get...

Re: Oil pressure with remote oil fllter

Also make SURE you don't get the hoses mixed up between where they leave and then re enter the block. I know of at least 1 engine that ran for a couple of days before locking up due to this. The...

Re: Remove rear quarter on Woody

Lots of mortise and tenons in these wooden crates! They usually have a big machine screw into a T nut or big wood screw into the tenon. The exterior stainless caps are over a standard T nut.

Re: 1934 Ford auction results

As I said before, if I was in this old car hobby for the money I would sell them all right now because the selling price will only continue down. But I am not, and my son can give them away if he...

Re: '40 Ford visors

To make my 40 coupe driver's side visor "stiffer" I pulled the visor straight off the rod (there is a pointed rod in that goes in the length of it) and put a slight bend in it, pushed the visor back...

Re: installing engine

After verifying it has the correct clutch disk in there and it is lined up with the pilot bearing/bushing, try putting the transmission in gear so the input shaft doesn't move. Then while mating the...

Re: Crank pulley bolt...Lost again!!

I was thinking the same as earlyride, and perhaps the 2 surfaces (crank side and bolt side) of the pulley are not exactly 90 degrees from the centerline which would permit a wobble.
Also, did you...

Re: '47 bucking and stalling, ammeter won't work

It is called a voltage regulator for a reason. I would start there and the wiring to it.

Re: 1932 Ford Vicky

I have fixed WAY worse. Looks solid to me. I have sold a couple of tudor door sets of garnish moldings that were destined to be cut down for a Victoria.
