Re: 266 versus 276 CI?
To be clear, there have been a couple of errors in calculating total displacement in this thread. The engine the O/P is describing (3 3/16"+.030" bore with a 4" stroke) is 260 ci, not 266 ci. The...

Re: 266 versus 276 CI?
The key word here is "perhaps". It has been my experience that, unless experienced with flatheads, most of these guys do the great majority of their work on modern engines with thin wall castings,...

Re: 266 versus 276 CI?
I'll take all of the free horsepower I can get. Seeing that .125" pistons are usually the same price as .030", it's an extra free 16 ci or 6% increase, which I would think would be noticeable.
As...

Re: Hagerty insurance ?
I'd be careful with Condon & Skelly right now. I have had them for over 30 years, and my last communication with them is that they are no longer associated with "Ironshore Indemnity Inc.". Included...

Re: vacuum wipers
The wipers on my '51 weren't completely dead, but didn't work very well. I "refurbished" them by filling a squirt bottle with brake fluid, inserting it into the vacuum line, and operating the wiper...

Re: BorgWarner Overdrive Questions
Just the overdrive or a complete transmission with the overdrive included? What is your application for it? "Expensive" (in the US at least) makes this sound like not the best deal. We need more...

Re: shipping frustration
This (regular packages doing better than "Priority Mail") seems counter-intuitive to me. I can tell you that over that last 6 months, none of the "Priority Mail Small Flat Rate Boxes" I have sent (8...

Re: shipping frustration
I have heard that "Priority Mail" packages are moving quite well, but regular "First Class" stuff suffers from the overload problem.

Re: Crab distributor or ???
Have you tested it when it's hot? Or over a period of time? The ability of the condenser to do it's job can vary greatly with both of these conditions.

Re: headers vs duals
After having them installed for over 30 years, I still love my Fenton cast iron headers. They look and sound great! Anyone who puts power over style shouldn't run a flathead anyway.:D

Re: Did I finally find a GEM?
I hate to admit it, but I usually get stuff like this from Rock Auto. You'd be surprised what they carry. The local NAPA store can also surprise you at times if you can get them to understand what...

Re: What is this truck?
Help out a poor uninformed "shoebox" guy. That school bus sure looks like it has "wide-5" wheels. Did Ford continue them past 1939 on trucks? Some of the other examples in this thread don't appear to...
