Re: 59A How Many Feet Of Ignition Lead?

I should have mentioned that is one fine engine you have, and if I ever do dual carbs, that style intake was one of my top picks.

Re: 59A How Many Feet Of Ignition Lead?

I did order precut black wire. Still had to do a bit of trimming at the ends going to the distributor, and of course had to install and crimp those terminals. I can attest to the pain it was...

Re: Break-in gone wrong!

Closely watching this thread. I feel for you. The original pickup tube on my C59A had been damaged at one point, but had been brazed back together, and I didn’t really like the repair. Luckily, I had...

Re: 59A How Many Feet Of Ignition Lead?

Measured about 107” per side, so in total about 214”. Seems like a lot, but it is what it is.

Re: 59A How Many Feet Of Ignition Lead?

When I get home later this afternoon, I can measure what I have with my helmet style distributor.

Re: Break-in gone wrong!

I wish you luck. Hopefully, it is nothing too serious. This is one of my biggest fears for when it’s my turn to give it its’ first start after a rebuild process that has dragged on for years.

Re: 255 Merucry Dyno Pull

Thank you for posting! So few vids on YT of actual dyno tests of flatheads. Eventually I want mine dynoed. Mine (C59A) is completely stk with only a 0.060 overbore and Pete’s Isky 1007B cam grind. I...

Re: 1932 b400

The kijiji ad shows seller’s location being Manitoba, Canada. Not sure if the car is there though. In this ad he was originally asking for anything over $78K. I just checked the ad, and now asking...

1932 b400

Never heard of one until now. Found this on kijiji. I guess they are quite rare and sought after. This seems to be original and has the V8.

Re: Complicated Compression Ratio

Yeah, the charts in the link I posted above have nothing for 0.100” over. Must be 0.125”.

Re: Towing Capacity?

Lots of science actually goes into truck trailer dynamics, but in your case it should be fairly straight forward. Looks like rear of truck is a fair distance from rear axle centreline, so even though...

Re: Canadian Heads

Thanks for posting about Sir Harry Ricardo. Had never heard of him until now. Read his wiki page. It just amazes me that all these folks just started designing and building all kinds of engines...

Re: 8BA Fan hub information needed

Found this pic in one of my albums. Not sure if it is exactly what you are looking for as it seems the belt is wide, but when I Google that P/N (8600), this thread popped up. Still no answer as to...

Re: Dipstick Length

As a reference, my 59A has 3 quarts in it (fresh engine not yet started), and dipstick level is about 1/2” from full mark. I read somewhere that you shouldn’t fill it up fir a freshly rebuilt engine....

Re: Is this normal?

Yeah, I understand things are a bit costly, however from what I’m seeing, these prices seem high. I figure I got about CAN$5K into my build (I did everything myself excluding machine shop work &...

Is this normal?

Did a search on kijiji here in Canada for “Ford flathead” just for fun. Came across a few selling “rebuilt” engines ranging in price from CAN$6.5K up to CAN$12.5K. I thought we were done with Covid...

Re: Any contacts in Australia or New Zealand for rebuilding 94 Holley Carbs?

I had never rebuilt a carb in my life, but decided to do it myself for my Holley 94. I’m in Canada and didn’t want to deal with the shipping/brokerage fees, and I’m only 1.5 hrs from the US NY state...

Re: T5 advice

I don’t have a dog in this fight on whether one should use the S10 vs a Ford T5, but a HAMBER who’ve I personally met just recently posted that he was wishing to swap the gear set in his S10 T5. He...

Re: How far should I go with my '41 flathead

Probably would be be a good thing to have it checked out, but be prepared for the cost associated with it as you might be going down the road of a partial rebuild.
