Re: Calling on 30/31 Station Wagon owners

Not sure if these are exactly what you are looking for, but here are some pictures of the drivers side latch/strikers. When you say dovetails I think of a part of the joint I can’t probably see, so...

Re: Calling on 30/31 Station Wagon owners

I’m out of town until mid-next week or I would get the pics. Maybe then?

Re: Motor wheel hub cap

Here are a few pictures, some wouldn’t load. Probably too big. The hubcaps are really hard to find. I was actually going down the path of getting them drawn in SolidWorks and then 3D printing...

Cleaning a gas tank

A friend of mine inherited a roadster from his grandfather. He has been working on it and took a look at the gas tank. He said it appears to have a brown sediment around the fuel cap opening. Any...

Re: 1931 Traveler Wagon and Special Delivery

Someone posted pictures of a Traveler on Facebook yesterday or the day prior. I hadn’t seen one of those before, I guess there were only 10 and all destroyed according to the poster. I can dig...

Re: Do you have any pin up girls with your Model A?

Yes, I checked the whole thread. I felt old when someone questioned eye brow fenders and my Dad had owned an A with them many years ago. While I chuckled at many comments and raised an eyebrow...

Re: Model A Day 2021

My Dad and I were going to go for the swap meet to sell and to have time together in 2020, we will probably go whether indoor activities are allowed or not. Hopefully I will have my vaccines by then...

Re: 1931 Model AA Paddy Wagon

JulieLynn, you may be able to private message CPDSarge. At the top right of the window you will see where it says “Welcome JulieLynn”, two lines below it says “Private Messages”. Click on that and...

Re: Won't Start when Warmed Up

Sluggish to turn over hot?—I would check the ground cable at both ends—battery and frame connection. The frame connection is often overlooked. Similar to what bobbader said!

Re: Paint v/s Japaning

Very interesting. I hadn’t heard of this process or forgot I did, but the article was an interesting read. I would kind of like to try this.

Re: Oh oh..Where to begin..or end?!

Reading this thread reminds me of the “Valve Job” I started in 2002. I have a ‘69 Mach 1 that needed a valve job. A week after starting the project, the car was just a bare shell, not a bolt left...

Re: "A" with wooden spoke wheels....

JWM—there is an outer hub and an inner ring that are riveted together. The wheel is lug centric with it essentially riding on the shank and bevel of the lug nut. In addition to the rivets, the lug...

Re: "A" with wooden spoke wheels....

Here are some pictures of the wheels showing the hub front and back. Also there is one picture of lug nuts—that is the key, this requires a special long shank lug nut and secures to any stock Model...

Re: "A" with wooden spoke wheels....

The old wive’s tale about driving in water—if you get a set of these wheels do yourself a favor and DO NOT drive in water. The rim is two layers of metal, water gets inside and will start to rust. ...

Re: "A" with wooden spoke wheels....

Hmm, add one more set to the known number of Motor Wheel wood wheels. At one time I had 3 sets. I’ve cut back to 1 set of 19” and 1 set of 21”.

Re: AAA for breakdowns in antique?

I have had AAA since 1995, some years I use the heck out of it, some I never use it. But I don’t leave home without it. Some good stories:
- Bought a ‘73 Mustang that had rust in the gas tank...

Re: Most Difficult Restoration Tasks

Sometimes the hardest part is getting motivated. I have so many things to work on (besides the cars) that it is sometimes overwhelming. Once my hands are dirty I tend to be in a happy place, I just...

Re: Station Wagon Owners

Asphaltum—that’s the word I was looking for! Not paint, not stain, but black! I kept thinking a form of tar, but knew that wasn’t a good description.

A few years back we installed an overdrive...

Re: Station Wagon Owners

I am no expert, but my understanding is it was a black coating. Not paint, but a black coating somewhere between paint and stain. Not sure what to call it. Let’s see what the experts say!

Re: Extended Warranty

LOL, yesterday I answered and said I had a 1931 Ford Expedition, figuring “Station Wagon” might confuse a younger generation. There was a very brief moment of silence and contemplation, then the...

Re: Rusty Coolant

Excellent—thanks for the great replies! Sure hope it doesn’t freeze in Southern California, but we do have an election coming up.
