Re: 54 Meteor (Ford) rear axle seals.

I replaced a leaking axle seal in my '54 Customline yesterday. Stock rearend. I used SKF 13865 bought at NAPA auto parts. Just be aware, SKF is the bottom of the barrel in quality but, it works. ...

All info is in the post. It was a 2005 Saturn Vue. It's a joy to drive that car with EPS!

Re: '59 Ford power steering.....

Wow....those prices are nuts! It takes a little bit of fabrication but, as far as I'm concerned, electric power steering is the way to go! I integrated a junkyard EPS unit into my '54 and I...

Re: '55 Ford car headlight swtich

Is there some dirt or grit in there that's keeping the shaft from sliding all the way in? Flush it out with some electrical cleaner then try again.

Re: Anyone have any of these?

Yep, cut a couple out of thick sheet metal, including the tab, put a little tweek in 'em with a sheet metal brake, drill a hole and done! Easy enough.

Re: Lowering my 55 Fairlane but I'm confused

Aerostar springs alone lowered my car 2-1/2". If you added 2" dropped spindles, the car would be sitting on the rocker panels! Are you sure that car isn't low enough now with your Aerostars?

Cool Re: Galaxie trim clips

It's hard to tell from the pic but are there holes in the body for a bolthead to go through? If so, these type of moulding clips should work.........

Cool Re: ’56 exterior trim removal

A lot of trim on my '54 just kind of snaps on. You have to carefully pry it off. Use patience and work slowly. As stated, there are several different styles of moulding clips on early Fords. The...

Cool I got a good laugh at AutoZone today.

I took a shot and went to AZ looking for wiper blades for my '54. Couldn't find 'em in the aisle so I asked the 12 year old at the counter to look them up. Which he did and promptly asked...

Cool Re: Where to cut sa floor pan

#1 is your sill plate, #2 is the top lip of your inner rocker and #3 is your body brace. I assume '57's are pretty close structurally to '54's.
Yes, I cut out my sill plate and replaced the top...

Cool Re: Where to cut sa floor pan

Looks like your toeboard, floorpan and sill plate will have to be replaced. Remember, you'll need good metal to weld to. If the top is rusty/rotted, I surmise your inner and outer rockers...

Cool Re: What goes here?

Not sure but on my Customline, instead of screws, two pieces of metal are brazed together. You can see the brazing in my first pic. Maybe the Friday afternoon crew decided to screw instead of...

Cool Re: Frame VIN Location 1956 Merc

I have a '54 Customline so our cars are fairly similar. I found my VIN under years of caked on crap on top of the frame, in the corner where the right inner fender panel and core support meet. You...

Re: rear end suggestions

Re: Tranny cooling line issue

It might be the picture but, it doesn't look like you have much distance to cover there. The trans lines are long and can easily be bent somewhere near the middle to compensate for that distance so...

Cool Re: 1936 Steering Box Lubricant

I removed the box and shoved the cornhead grease in by hand. One tube did it.
