Re: 1937 V860 carb issue (i think)

Re: 1937 - changing gear advice
Sound like a rebuild is in order, should not have to double clutch up or down shifting. 60HP transmission parts should be fairly easy to find and much less expensive than 85HP. Sounds like the...

Re: Generator and Fan
The BB- pulley is smaller because big trucks usually do not operate at high RPM the smaller pulley will increase generator output at lower RPM keeping the battery charged.

Re: Generator and Fan
Appears like the 33-35 Generator. If you clean the body you will find a date code. The pulley usually has a part number as well as the front mounting embossed into the metal.

Re: Packing Differential Bearings?
I only use the final lubricant as assembly lubricant. So for the Ford I use the same lubricant I fill the differential with when done. For the most part there is no need to pre lube.

Re: Carb Rebuild
In 34 Ford used both the 40 and 48. The two Carbs were identical in outward appearance, with the difference being the inside of the top and center sections. At sometime near 35 Ford had Stromberg...

Re: Cleaning a Hydrostatic fuel gauge
I just leave the acid in for about 10-20 Minutes. Then rinse over and over again with water, or follow the instructions above. If the acid can not reach the stoppage chances are it will not work.

Re: 35/36 headlight support brace
Although the 35 and 36 braces were interchangeable I believe it was 36 that the carriage bolt for the lower attachment to the radiator support, became an integral part of the brace.

Re: 32 steering wheel on a 35
The 35 wheel is very unique one year item. Check the ford club restoration book. The wheel has raised areas every inch or so around the perimeter. Very obvious.

Possible you have a cracked syncro ring (blocker ring) which would require the transmission to come out and apart. If it were the clutch then both 2nd and 3rd would grind.

Remove the tire and rim, try the fit of the replacement drum on the rim before mounting the drum to the car.
