If not repaired correctly, they can come back to haunt you.....they can turn-out UGLY! NOS ones are still out there, and may be a reasonable option! A friend replaced this one with NOS on a '35...

The '39-'42 Mercury engines were 239 cu. in. vs the same year Fords which were 221 cu. in. The Mercurys had a 3.187" bore, whereas the Fords had a 3.062" bore. In '46, both Ford and Mercury engines...

To correct that "left of center" situation, that will require adjusting the DRAG Link. You will need to LENGTHEN the drag link slightly, maybe ONE or TWO turns. DD
