Re: Changing coolant for the winter

I haven't changed in about 4 years. To go 50/50 I would need another half gallon. Correct?

Changing coolant for the winter

What is the coolant capacity of 31 coupe. Is one gallon of Prestone concentrate enough? And top off with distilled water? I live in Central TX.

Re: vacuum gauge as diagnostics tool

You can gauge your fuel mileage running a vacuum gauge. Keep it in the green or high green as you drive, and you get the most mileage.

Re: Mouse retardant - dryer sheets

"Hedge apples" keep them away. "Osage orange" to those that don't know what hedge apples are!

Re: Creating a list for what to do to winterize your A

When I lived in Streator, we always placed a few "hedge apples" around the perimeter inside the garage.

Re: Where did my gas go?

Faulty shutoff valve for sure. Gas leaks to carb and float not set to shutoff & leaks on the floor and evaporates.

Re: Vaccum Gauge

Higher the vacuum the better the gas mileage. Work the pedal.

Re: gastank shutoff valve leak at threads- options?

Are you sure it is gas or just the valve sweating from high humidity? Buy a rebuild kit for the old one and re-install.

Re: Gas leaking thru Sight Glass

Disassemble the whole thing and do it right the first time. Get the rebuild kit and take your time reassembling. You will never have to do it again!

Re: Well...here we go!

Change the oil if you have not already, and fuel filter. A tuneup may be in order since it sat so long. Where are you from in Illinois? I'm from Streator originally. Jack Bahm has a series of you...

Re: Tillotson carb rebuild question

If warped mating surfaces, remove carb and flushout a blow out ALL gas. Baked mine in kitchen oven @ 250 degrees with "C" clamps. Check every 20 minutes and tighten clamps to true up the surfaces....
