Re: Repair of Soft Wood

I 'repaired' the wood in my Townsedan where the drip rails attach with Git Rot. Then I used a marine epoxy to fill in the larger holes and give the nails something to bite. I also know that this is a...

Re: Lightened Flywheel

Ok..side note experts. I put in a CW crank and lightened the flywheel about 15 lbs., basically the amount of the crank weights. Since the weight is about the same +/- a few lbs. is the damping effect...

Re: Engine upgrade

My 2 cents worth is this. Yes the larger valves and HC head will help the engine run and breath better. Again you will have other things to do to it as mentioned above. I tweaked me engine with a HC...

Re: Luggage Trunk Needed

Hello and welcome. Couple of things:

1) The pic is super small so at least I can't see any damage.
2) Can the damage be pounded out?
3) I see them come up from time to time on craigslist or a...

Re: help needed w/steering wheel problem

Welcome to the forum and you may want to add your location a someone may be nearby to help. Mine did that after it pulled the box out for a tune up. It was down in the switch area with the spider...

Re: Assembly plant vs manufacture plant

I think 'assembly' is putting together knock down vehicles before the manufacturing got up to speed. Could be wrong though.

Re: 1929 Fordor Briggs Running Again

As far as converting it to 12v from what I understand you will need a 12v battery, 12v gen/alt, 12v starter, 12v coil. From what I read you may just want to leave it as is for now. 6v is just fine...

Re: Supply chain woes

Found out that upper radiator hose may be out of stock-for awhile. Went to NAPA and got some generic hose that will work. Be prepared for sticker shock.

Re: Houston....We have a problem

Here is my two cents worth-and that is all this is worth:). I assume that you have matched up the old wood to the new physically next to each other. Just to verify dimensions and hole placement, But...

Re: How much spindle wear is acceptable?

All I know is that the king pin bushings (which sounds what you are describing) there should be no noticeable play. If there is then they need to be replaced. The king pin should be good just the...

Re: European Fordor project

Dan,

What about using wood that has been kiln dried for several months to get rid of the acids? either way you will end up painting/sealing the wood and metal.

Re: 1930 Firewall Fuel Bowl

If I remember right, the cast iron fuel bowl is 'original'. However, I think the glass bowl is also original and that is the one I use. One trick you may try is to solder the ferule and see if that...

Brent, thank you for posting the ad about the burnishing machine. I learned quite a bit-most of this is over my head as well-but I learned that even in the 20's there were full pressure oil systems...

Re: Time lapse Model A engine build

Just for my own edumication since I am not well versed in machining an engine. I just want to be clear that 'fluidizing' the bearings means setting the bearing clearance to basically zero and (via...
