Re: Zinc been taken out of Rotella oil & other diesel brands

I use nothing but Brad Penn. I get it at a local speed shop. It's what's used by the NASCAR guys on their flat tappet engines. My '41 certainly has no NASCAR motor, but I use it to err on the safe...

Re: Erratic problem

I have just fixed my problem. I apologize for dragging this issue out for so long. After trying everything I could think of and swapping out every part (carb & ignition parts) and it still kept...

Re: Erratic problem

KIWI, I just saw your post. My problem has still been coming and going. But I have narrowed down the cause, but not the fix. I was thinking that I had a fuel or electrical problem. But earlier this...

Re: Erratic problem

I apologize for dropping this thread and not reporting back as to whether or not I have fixed it. Just after my last post (7/14/10) I started a long hard battle with cancer. After chemo, cranial...

Re: Going Around Scranton, North on 81

I live just north of Scranton. 81 and the turnpike parallel each other in the Scranton area. You can get off of 81 and onto the turnpike for the last 10 or 15 miles and then get back on 81 at the end...

Re: Stainless steel(rusty)

Iron dilution causes rust on stainless - using a wire brush, steel wool, etc. will impart little iron particles that will rust. Use a stainless steel wire brush, scotch brite, etc. Or I believe...

Re: Is Zink necessary ?

I use nothing but Brad Penn or Joe Gibbs. Both make oil specifically for motors with flat tappet cams. No mixing, no guessing. You can get them at any speed shop. All of the "new" oils have reduced...

Re: Erratic problem

MMO did not cure the problem. BUT, after all that I have done to try to fix this, the problem seems to have diminished. Once in while, while under power, it does a quick litle "buck" and then goes...

Re: Erratic problem

When I turn on the fuel pump it does not leak down the throat of the carb, nor out the base. I did vacuum time it. It seems that timing helped but did not fix the problem. Tomorrow morning I will try...

Re: Erratic problem

I took the mechanical pump out of the circuit to make sure that it was not part of this problem. I changed all the flexible lines (including the one coming out of my fuel tank) to fuel injection hose...

Erratic problem

I have a 41 ford pickup, v8, converted to 12v. I have a problem with it bucking and missing. It always idles nice and smooth. But occasionally (every couple days) it will start bucking while I am...

I am in the middle of putting a Heidt's IFS with power rack & pinion steering on a 55 Chevy pickup. It is a well built kit, fits nice, and has good instructions. You can also find online articles...

Re: Scammer in FL

You have to watch them on craigslist too. I don't give any of them my credit card #. I won't buy if I can't see it with my own eyes. I learned the hard way. With both craigslist and Ebay.

This is my first post on the new forum. I have a stock 41 Ford V8 pickup. There is a fitting under the carb in the manifold that supplies vacuum to the distributor and wipers. This fitting is...
