Re: Timing Gear/Crank Gear issue

I concur. I swapped out my fiber for one of his bronze gears at the advice of tbirdtbird and have been extremely happy with it.

Re: repo shifter stick repair

My repo shifter actually snapped while driving. I called up Bert's and ordered an original one. I had to restore the ball, but it is a much beefier piece of metal than the repo. I would call up...

Re: New Radiators

I got a new (recored) radiator for my '31 from Bert's. It fit perfectly first try and works great! I would highly recommend one.

Re: Timing gear past it's prime

I bought gears from Dan McEachern out in CA on tb's advice. I have not had the chance to install them yet (school and all that), but they look amazing.

I went ahead and bought both, but you can...

Re: Lap Belt Supplier

I installed seat belts recently in my '31 Roadster. I ordered the first two from Brattons and was very happy. When I installed the seat belts in the rumble seat, I ordered them from Snyder's (as I...

Re: Who is insuring your Model A' ?

I actually could not get insurance through Haggerty, JC Taylor, or any of the other collector car guys. They want every licensed driver in the household to have their own daily driver (which we do...

Re: Engine starts only when it is hot or the first spark plug is out

A lot of fuel seems to be coming back out of the carb. How much fuel should I see come out after I choke it?

Re: Engine starts only when it is hot or the first spark plug is out

The spark plug is still sparking a nice, blue spark. Is there anything else that I should check with the spark plug? This is the reason I keep going back to the fuel getting into the cylinders.

Re: Engine starts only when it is hot or the first spark plug is out

I am currently waiting for the battery to charge. Once that is done, I will try putting some starter fluid directly into the cylinder and starting. If that does nothing, I will go back to the spark.

Re: Engine starts only when it is hot or the first spark plug is out

I pulled the spark plugs again. The car is still getting a good, strong, consistent spark. This is why I was looking into the fuel system. I tried starter fluid, but it made no difference.

Re: Engine starts only when it is hot or the first spark plug is out

I did pass over the top of the engine compartment with a hose. I figured that it was no different than a light rain.

I do have a fuse on the starter. I took the fuse out and reseated it, but it...

Re: Engine starts only when it is hot or the first spark plug is out

I checked for fuel at the carb and spark. There is fuel coming out of the line into the carb and the plugs still spark.

I tried taking the gas cap off. It did not seem to make a difference.

Non-original metal strip welded into body 40-B

I seem to have a non-original metal strip welded into the body where the hip panels go. This piece also takes the place of the bracket that one of the wood pieces screws into.

Will I be able to...

Re: top iron disassembly

Thanks Bill. After reading your reply I took them down to a local restoration/Hot Rod shop and the guy there is going to remove them for me and paint the rest of the irons.
