Transmission fork shafts

Should the shift shafts have lead in/ lead out "tails" into the grooves or not?
The Brattons website pics shows the high/intermediate shaft does not have tails but the pic of the low reverse...

I'm always intrigued when I read on the barn about carbs wicking so much the fuel overflows:), another one that comes up a lot on the barn is the cap and main jets needing to be dished to prevent...

Well post #11 John _gto has solved the problem I had ... obviously incorrect lower plate shorting by condenser extension ( rogue plate on left in photo, previous one replaced becaues of degraded...

Yes, I too have come across a GAV needle that was too short by about 1/16 inch. (Careful measurment of everything - body , threads ,housing, seat etc comfirmed that the needle ws indeed he culprit...

I think you're right Mike, but a down draught carb with redesigned manifold and a a better exhaust and manifold with outlet near #1 would have gone a long way to solving the problem at a lowish...
