When the motor is pulled and also when reinstalled the throttle assembly can get bumped, or mangled. Also rarely does the shaft get any oil.

The cutaway will help you a lot. We might get a better idea of what you have with a couple of pictures. Replacing the wood is one thing, hunting up missing brackets, and missing fasteners is another.

Dick Crabtree restores the popouts and can cut keys. A and L cuts keys.
Use graphite lock lube. At the start of this section is a listing of services and web sites where you will find both.

Makes sense. I would flush the tank, or consider derusting. With the micro screen in the tank you are not seeing everything. Got a similiar problem with a permatex coated tank and deteriorated fuel....

Got a comment from a viewer asking about the Imbedding process, and my preference.
The next and probably final YouTube will cover this. Obtaining a correct glass replacement was the main hang up....
