Petehoovie - thank you, will get a vacuum gauge and do that.
Was given a box full of old fuel pumps - could always swing test a few of those out if the vacuum test comes back negative and carb...

New fuel pump is from Mac's - went with later glass bowl style (that's what was on the engine when I got it and liked the ability to check sediment collection). Have not tested pressure.

Carb is a Ford 59A (essentially the same as a Holley 94).

I think you are referring to the mixture screws - on the 59A carb, there are two (one for each barrel/bank of cylinders). There is only one idle adjustment screw and that is part of the throttle...
