Re: Decided against turn signals.....what about this idea?

I bought a pair of old turn signal lights with the arrow shaped lenses I plan to restore and use on front and add original style tail light on right for my AA project.

Re: New Brake Shoes

I just re-lined shoes for AA. Fortunately I had 20 shoes to pick and choose best ones. Most shoes showed little wear in pin holes. I’m sure you could weld up and re-drill worn ones if you had to.

Re: Radius rod is too long

I realize it’s different, but yesterday I was reassembling my AA rear axle after complete rebuild and experienced similar problems. What I learned was to leave everything a little loose until totally...

Re: Engine overhaul options/decision

If you have any machine work done I would highly recommend using a shop with experience on model A engines that is recommended by other A owners. I would also recommend requiring the shop to...

Re: Tire price hikes coming at us

It’s called inflation, no pun intended. When the government prints money like it’s free it devalues what you have in your bank account. I saw where one South American country removed 6 digits from...

Re: 2 Tooth Steering Sector

Mine was not easy at all to get off or on. I had to resort to fire wrench. I made a special press set up with a hollow pipe and hydraulic jack. I packed sand around it to keep hollow shaft from...

Re: 2 Tooth Steering Sector

I replaced both worm and sector on mine. Quite a chore getting that old worm off and new one on without damaging hollow shaft.

Re: Stop Leak

Years ago back in the mountains hunting turkeys our old Jeep radiator sprung a leak. We stopped in a country store. We asked the owner, whom we knew, if he had any radiator stop leak. Yes, three...

Re: Starter and fly wheel

I just put a new one on and had to heat it a good bit to get it to slip on. After it’s cooled I can’t imagine it coming loose. Appears pretty tight.

Re: Vise help

Probably not what you had in mind but I have two of the old blacksmith post vices and they are nearly indestructible.

Re: How do you all test for an intake manifold air leak?

I always mixed a little gas and oil together in a pump oil can and squirt a little around suspected leaks.

Re: Snow Chains

I ran a lot of tire chains over the years on work trucks. The strap on ones not so good, they will destroy themselves if you spin wheel any.

Stopping a Model A, stopping a AA

I have never had the privilege of driving a car with mechanical brakes yet. Currently working on a 1930 AA project. I learned to drive on clunkers with worn out manual hydraulic brakes and have...

Re: Water pump questions

You could build up a little brass on the end of the shaft to take up for wear on the head to eliminate the end play or add a little set collar. My old pump had the set collar on it so I re-used it...
