What would indicate that my water pump is operating correctly?
Are there any obvious signs that it isn't?

I overcame my overheating issue by loweriing he water level in the radiator, it was overheating after driving about 15 minutes much like you are reporting!

I resolved my overheating issue which sounds very much like yours by lowering the water level in the radiator.

Steering Wheel Slop

I have about 5" to 7" of steering wheel slop on my 29 Roadster. Not sure whatis considered normal and if not where do I start making adjustments?l

I'm not aware that there is a thermostat , I was told by someone that if the water pump is moving it is OK.....does that make sense? I will check the lower hose , flushing system was a thought I had!...

I have a 29 Roadster that recently has been over heating after running for about 15 minutes, recently drained & refilled radiator with 50/50 runs well and sound great just overheats, engine is hot...
