Re: Idling Issue 1931 Tudor

Well, it turns out, the idle speed was the problem. I set it too high which was causing issues. I tightened up the bolts on the carburetor, the manifold, and re-set the mixture screw, and lowered the...

Unhappy Idling Issue 1931 Tudor

Hi, Ford Barn! While visiting my Grandparents for Christmas, I have fixed the horn (it now sounds beautiful) and installed the carburetor that I refurbished. The car runs great, but WILL NOT idle...

Re: Do You Know What Grinds My Gears?

My least favorites to hear are:

"Can you drive it in the rain?"

"How can you legally turn with no signals"

"Can you drive it on the interstate?"

"Does it get above 4MPG"- I guess...

Re: Saving ebay pictures to your computor

Afordman31, I use the snipping tool all the time. It's very helpful when you need to steal pictures off of a flash website, too! Such as Nissan's website with protected pictures... :D

Re: Weak 1931 Sparton Horn

Below is a zipped folder with an MP3 of the horn in it. It's only 3 or 4 seconds long, so it doesn't take long to listen to it or download it. This was recorded just a few months ago and it still...

Re: Weak 1931 Sparton Horn

I live in Anderson, SC, but my Grandad (& the car) live near Florence in SC. That's why I'm trying to figure out how to fix everything before I go for a visit in 2 weeks. Currently, the two things...

Re: Weak 1931 Sparton Horn

Sorry about the delay in response. I will definitely check into finding a Les Andrews book, but $62 for a used paperback seems steep to me. Maybe I'll ask for one for Christmas! I think I might use...

Re: Stiff Steering on 1931 Tudor

@Jason in TX: I have never heard of any of those parts, but I guess there is only one way to find out! Do you have a diagram of the chassis of a Model A? If not, I can find one.

Re: Stiff Steering on 1931 Tudor

When you say too tight, do you mean the square headed adjustment bolt at the end of the steering collumm? Do you know what the factory setting was? I apologize for my youthful ignorance... I guess...

Re: Stiff Steering on 1931 Tudor

Correction: the steering box was NEW from Snyder's Antique Auto Parts, not rebuilt. So I'm thinking the problem isn't from the box? I think the steering arm balls is a good idea. I'll check those.

Wink Stiff Steering on 1931 Tudor

Hello, Ford Barn. Another issue my Grandfather's Model A has is its steering. It is consitently quite stiff except for a small spot when the wheels are almost straight that it is incredibly easy. It...

Re: Weak 1931 Sparton Horn

Back to the horn, I ordered a brush & spring set from Snyder's... I figured since they were only $2.60, I might as well replace them anyway. How do I need to replace the brushes? Is it just a matter...

Re: Weak 1931 Sparton Horn

That's it! The car pictured is my Grandad's. I'm definitely sure it will be a life-long hobby. I would get one to drive around in College, but I'm scared it would get dented and scratched up by other...

Re: Weak 1931 Sparton Horn

Thanks very much for the help! I'll look into that as soon as possible. It definitely looked corroded when I opened it up, and since it hasn't been serviced in who knows how many years, I'm guessing...
