sediment bowl filter issue

Hi All,




I just tried to install a NAPA 3039 filter in the sediment bowl. Well the center hole would not fit around the fuel inlet so I had to widen it. When I finally got everything seated...

My thoughts are either hairline cracks somewhere that open up or the GAV needs to be opened up when you come to a stop. Ooooh, is the block flat where it bolts up?

I am retorqueing both warm and cold. Since apparently ford says to do it warm I will do it after a run and then when she is stone cold.

Ok after I got home from the shop where I was able to get her alignment done I looked a little closer at the bubbles. They are green and not black-with a copper one thrown in for fun. So that tells...

The bubbles are on both sides of the engine. I am running antifreeze and I hope it isn't leaking out.

Hi All,




I installed a new BEST HG the copper one but it has these little black bubbles of goop coming from it. Right where the head and block come together and I did not use any black goop....

Thanks folks. I just put a new head gasket on and I don't want to do it again due to overheating. Especially since I cleaned things up.

There is a coupe/pickup in our club and it was done very nicely I think back in the 40's. If the body is still good and just lid is removed then I say go for it. Grab a T box and weld and fill.

If I remember right, Murray got the bulk of the orders for the fordoors. Briggs was making other bodies as well as the fordoors. So Briggs bodied fordoors are relatively rare compared to Murrays....

Dad painted his black when he restored the car. And that is all I have seen on other cars. Although, I have not looked up the judging standards for an answer.

I use about 40. That way it takes a loooong time to leak down:). That and the tubes don't shift at all. That is my story and I am sticking to it.

update to the update

Well, I finally got my car running after swapping parts and rechecking things yet again. It was the flipping carb. Swapped carb and she fired right up.
