Re: Single Malt for Me and My Girl

unless your pan is leaking around the edge, I'd leave the pan bolts alone. There's no pressure there, and the bolts do the best job when just barely snug. Go tighter and you'll get gaps between the...

Re: Distributor not turning when cranking engine.

Do you have a crank? Turn the engine and see if the shaft in the block turns. If you don't have a crank, it's time to get one.

Re: Please help, any advice?

I think it's a fuel problem. Do I understand you have a filter in the fuel line seperate from the one in the carb and the one in the settling bowl? If you do, take it out. The A's gravity feed...

Re: try this again/ Volvo overdrive in a Model A

You probably need a new solenoid. They were designed for 12 volts, but a good one will work on 6V. Mine has been working fine for over ten years now. You might be able to find a used solenoid on...

Re: Connecting rod interchangeability ?

Your experience my vary, but about ten years ago I lost the babbit on one rod (B block) I had another set of used rods. The best looking one seemed to fit on both ends, so I installed it. I'm still...

Re: worth more in pieces

I bought an A-V8 coupe once that had a lot of nice parts, but as a whole it was a near disaster. I began dismanteling to fix things. When I got down to the bare frame I parted it out. Got my money...

Re: Restoring Spindle Arm and Steering Gear Arm Balls...

I lost a replaced ball on my roadster's pitman arm while coming down the switchbacks at the entrance to Arches National Park. I was okay after I stopped trying to steer and just jammed on the brakes....

Re: Does anyone fold their windshield down?

I put my 31 roadster ws down for a parade one time about ten years ago. That was sortof neat, but I haven't done it since. I even like a windshield on a motorcycle.

Re: Cruising with medical issues

It may not make any difference, but I detect an error in people's thinking about Oxygen. It is not flamable, and will not explode. Combustion requires oxygen but it isn't the oxygen that burns. Stuff...

Re: Oil Pan Dropping Update

One thing. When you put the splash pan back in, make sure it's solidly in the grooves all the way around. I learned the hard way.

Re: Crossing into Canada

Update. The Canadian buyer crossed the border with only a little difficulty. Putting both engine no and frame no on the bill of sale helped, as did having a copy of the original ad. Thanks for all of...

Re: "Repairs"??

I think it's partly a generational thing. Us old guys learned to work on cars that were simple. Youngsters grew up in an era where cars were like an appliance. Mostly they didn't break, and when they...

Re: "A" wheels on a 48 rear?

Here's the rule I've been given: If the drum originally had spoke wheels you can use any year spokes. If you put spokes where you originally had a disk wheel, or disks where you originally had a...

Re: A Short Driving Season

C'mon guys. You all know it used to be lots worse before we polluted everything with our internal combustion engines. Be thankful for global warming. Imagine how cold it would be without it. :-)

Re: my first A

Studebaker made a President Speedster using three similar yellow-green colors in metallic. It was gorgeous. I wanted one.
