Re: 1935 Coupe help

Fast54, Those are all valid questions, but all are of secondary importance to the question of valid title to the car. Check the numbers and take a walk if they don’t match.

Re: Dash color

Fast54, I agree with the others, that's a beautiful coupe. As to the value, I wouldn't consider pricing any car that I couldn't verify serial numbers. Your registration is definitely for a 1935 Ford,...

Re: Can anyone identify this radiator?

Visible on the inner side of the top tank is the identifier D4. This is a 1938-1939 60 hp 82A-08005-A2 McCord design with core 74-8005-D4: From the 1938-39 Ford Book published by the EFV8CA page 4-3.

Re: Ford 59 Carb

Chandler-Groves, Ford, and Holley all were manufacturers of the 94 carburetors. The model numbers on the driver’s side differed from year to year, but the internals are the same. 91-99; 21A; 59; 8BA,...

Re: Another V8 Identification Thread (1940 Ford)

Warbird, don’t fret about the engine not being original to the car, very few are. You may rejoice, however, at your transmission being original. The serial number of your transmission is...

Re: Headlight help

Just being tight is not a good indicator. It could be corroded under the nut. Also, the headlight bucket may not be grounded properly to the fender, which itself may not be properly grounded to the...

Re: Headlight help

Oldbugger gave a good answer, I'll just add that the crossover bullet connector may offer too much resistance.

Vern, With that announcement, I'm afraid you're not going to win any popularity contests in here. :(

Re: Ford Liquamatic auto trans in '41 Merc/Lincoln- has anyone seen one?

From personal experience... My father always drove Dodge Business Coupes for their huge trunks, as he moonlighted installing water heaters and forced air furnaces. I learned to drive in his Dodge...

Re: Ford Liquamatic auto trans in '41 Merc/Lincoln- has anyone seen one?

Liquimatic assemblies were recalled, to be replaced with standard engine-transmission assemblies at no charge. All assemblies were to be returned to Ford to be scrapped. At least one assembly...

Re: Horn relay sparks/install question

There should be no draw until you push the horn button, which supplies the ground to activate the primary circuit. You may have a frayed horn wire in your steering shaft tube.
There also may be a...

Re: Spring removal and Columbia installation

Necessity is the mother of invention. If you have a floor jack, a couple of jackstands, and the power of reason, the task becomes easy peasy.

Re: Another V8 Identification Thread (1940 Ford)

The "raised deck" is a semantics issue. The deck is at the same height as any other flathead deck, it's only the rough casting that was adjusted a bit thinner at the area surrounding the deck. There...

Re: What is this collection of parts worth? (1946 NOS)

Tom, I regret to inform you that what you have is known as a basket case in the truest sense of the term. As such, you neither have a car nor a viable project. Your father had good intentions, and...

Re: Front window drainage - 37

Another Ford mystery… Those drain hoses empty inside, just inches from the final exit below the car. Probable good intentions but assembly line sequence prevented access to bottom drain hole. We’ll...

Certainly. What you have discovered is a much sought after Early Ford Doorstop, designed specifically to keep garage doors in check during the windy days and nights of winter. The unusual thing about...

Re: Bumper Hitch / Mullins

Also, yes, a loaded trailer is more stable, and the load should be as far forward as possible.

Watch out for railroad tracks on those back roads! I failed to slow for one and got airborne!

Re: Bumper Hitch / Mullins

One concern: If your bumper is a reproduction, those bumpers are not spring steel as the originals were, and will bend easily. To determine if it is original, look at the backside of the bumper to...

Re: Help Identify V8

1936 water pumps in the heads were the last of that configuration. Block mounted pumps began in 1937 and continued for the rest of flathead production. Either way works well, any cooling issues best...

Re: Vintage oil filter replacement

From your picture, it looks to be a WIX and likely has a number on the part itself. NAPA carries WIX. The original Ford filter was similarly horizontal like that, but isn't the one pictured. There...

I used to own a '39 DeLuxe myself, and must admit, I didn't know either till I saw the picture on Post #3 above. Wish I had that '39 again!

Re: Help Identify V8

Jimmy, perhaps I didn't make my post clear. Your engine is a 37-38 which was supplied as a short block replacement for your truck. Your bolt-ons such as the heads and manifolds are from the original...

Re: Help Identify V8

That is a ‘37 or ‘38 engine. No other 21 stud had front block water pump location. The block off plates were a ford part available to provide newer short blocks for older bolt-ons.

Ken, the large...
