So I called the guy that had it and I'm sorry to say, it's gone. Probably sold for scrap.

It was a mercury. The spare was what I would call a continental kit.??

Yes a compression test is one thing I'm gonna do. This engine had the Merc-o-matic behind it originally. I have the starter from it. I also picked up a flywheel, cast bell, and starter plate. Will...

This engine was in a car that burned in a structure fire. The car was toast but I'm hoping the engine is salvageable.

I used 2 wide pry bars behind the moldings and carefully worked the nails out from the wood...a little at a time. I haven't separated the inner and outer molding and don't plan to. I have no clue how...

Hugh. Here's a picture of my original molding. It was never removed before, as far as i know, and it's held on with 1 1/4" long nails.

Put it in a small container and spray it liberally with oven cleaner. Rinse and repeat. Do it outside. That stuff stinks and the fumes are nasty. The stuff at the dollar store works fine.
