Re: Axle shims

I found a Model T .005” stainless steel shim that seems to do the trick in combination with the 0.010” shim already installed. Never thought of looking at Model T shims, but they fit a Model A axle...

Re: Put 3 point retractable seat belts in roadster

I like this installation very much, and would like to do a similar installation on my roadster. Where did you find the seatbelts and hardware, and what length belts did you need ?

Thanks - JIm

Re: Model A parts Suppliers.

One supplier told me several weeks ago that they all get parts from the same sources for 90+ % of parts they carry.

Brattons does seem to have some parts made just for them.

Re: Rear motor mount replacement

I guess you could overdo it, but with the engine lifted off the mount with the jack underneath, the frame didnít need to spread much at all. I was surprised at how easy this turned out to be. After...

Re: Rear motor mount replacement

A buddy and I replaced the rear passenger side motor mount yesterday in about an hour. We had a jack under the bell housing to take weight off the mount, and tapped a piece of 2X4 just the right...

Re: Rebuild generator or move to alternator?

The 90-year old generator on my A was rebuilt in the late 60’s shortly after I bought it. I’ve replaced the cutout with a Fun Projects electronic voltage regulator and upgraded all lighting to LED -...

Engine Splash Pans

Iíve had splash pans on my car since the 1980ís - primarily to keep the engine compartment a bit cleaner. However, Iíve been reading recently that the splash pans also help keep the engine running...

Re: 12 volt?

I’ve run a stock 6V system on my Model A for over 50 years. I’ve converted all lighting to LED and added a USB charging port that works on 6 V, and the electrical system handles it all easily, as...

Re: convert to LED headlights

LogoLites will actually work on 6 or 12 volts. With my stock 6V electrical system, Iíve had no issue with flicker at all. Those who report this as an issue need to check electrical connections.

I converted headlights on my car - with stock electrical system - to the LogoLites LEDs last fall and have been very happy with them. My experience with them is much like Brent’s in post #4 - lots...

Re: No spark has me stumped?

I would replace any other original wiring that remains in the car - it will eventually short. not long after the ignition wire shorted, the pigtail in the brake light shorted, causing a 10 amp...

Re: No spark has me stumped?

The ignition wire inside the armored cable to the distributor shorted to ground on my car. It was the original wire and the insulation had disintegrated. Took me a while to track that down.

Re: Leaking oil

There does appear to be an oil track down the flywheel housing in your first picture. The small semi-circular metal plate should have three small bolts holding it in place - you’ll need a 7/16”...
