Re: Wheel stud replacement

Another thing to understand when removing studs. When you cut the drum with a hole saw or the Goodson Stud Cutter the stud bolt of a properly swedge bolt will not fall out of the hub. The stud should...

Re: Wheel stud replacement

Bruce you may be right, but here is my experience. The hole in the drum is tapered. Wide at the top, narrow at the bottom. The hole saws that I am familiar with are straight. The drum thickness is...

Re: Wheel stud replacement

I think there is a some of bad information here.
Jimczeb wants to replace one stud in a hub and drum assembly. If a hole saw is used he will destroy the drum for future swedging.
No mention has...

Re: Wheel stud replacement

Your location might help solve your problem. It is not the kind of job just anyone can do without the proper tools and experience.

Re: New cast iron rear drums

I have ordered a couple hundred drums over the last twenty years. Mostly from Brattons, a few were from Snyders. Never a problem. Would you consider telling us where the drums came from.

Re: help dowshift 3rd to 2nd

Many engine builders will tell you never downshift to slow a car down. Down shifting at a high speed puts a strain on the engine. It is better to use your brakes than use the engine/transmission to...

Re: Swaging brake drum studs

Rocket1. Be careful. You are on a path to maiming yourself or a bystander. And that is before you take the hub and drum out of the press. The press must strong enough not to flex while pressing...

Re: Close Enough to Ford Maroon

We should think about this for a minute. Do we really know if the color is an original ford color? If it is original it probably faded over the years. I would go to a paint supplier or body shop and...

Re: Stumped

Easy fix. If you are on the side of the road with a clogged pencil filter.

Be careful of any dripping gas around a hot engine.

Turn off the fuel valve.

Just slightly loosen the fuel...

Re: Trailering Model A

I now have a headache. My first Model A I towed home with a chain. The farmer I bought the Model A from towed it with his 1946 Ford PU. This was in 1952. I could hardly reach the pedals when...

Re: Vin number

VIN Number legal definition. Don’t get mad at me. I am just reporting what I see. I would call it a serial number, ID number, or maybe something else, but not a VIN number

A VIN is composed of...

Re: Correct A belt size.

I have been following this thread for a couple of days. Snyders as well as other venders have been selling fan belts for decades. Many many belts have gone out the door to satisfied customers. ...

Re: clutch/brake pedal bushings

I make all my own bushing drivers. The driver is a tad bit longer than the bushing in most cases. I clean and lubricate where the bushing is to be installed and press the bushing in. Much less...

Re: Is an air operated grease gun useful when working on a Model A?

Air grease gun is way ahead of a manual grease gun. I went battery powered 5 years ago and I wouldn’t want to use anything else.

Good book for T info

A Model A friend of mine just acquired a Model T and needs a couple of books with information. Similar to the Model A red book and the judging standards. Thanks in advance.
