Re: Foamy Transmission Oil

Yes, that is exactly the one. It also comes in a 140 and 90 grade but that is beside the point now. I think there must be something out of the ordinary happening in your gearbox. I have never had nor...

Re: Foamy Transmission Oil

I have been assuming the Penrite 250 oil you have been using is the same as we get. Ours is labelled "Penrite Transoil 250". Is yours the same. Maybe we are not talking about the same oil.

Re: Foamy Transmission Oil

I have used Penrite 250 for many years and have no intention of changing. I have never had an issue.
How long have you been using Penrite and why do you want to change? What evidence is there that...

Re: Roads in the old days Australia

Thanks Eric. When my wife and I have been travelling in the US, we are often asked "Where are you folks from?" by people who notice our accents. (To us, you guys have the accent.) When we tell them...

Re: Roads in the old days Australia

When we were staying with friends just north of your border with Canada a few years ago in a remote and mountainous area, our host gave us strict instructions on what to do and not do if we came...

Re: Mouse retardant - dryer sheets

That's probably what we call "Rat Shot". The name says it all.

Re: Power shut-off switch

I have 4 Model As and every one of them has the switch on the earth side. Just where is the best place to mount it is a personal thing but in my Tudor, it is accessed through a slot in the carpet...

Re: Mouse retardant - dryer sheets

I know it's the wrong time of year to be worried about mice but during autumn when they start to move inside, I put out packets of mouse and rat poison. It contains an anticoagulant which causes the...

Re: W.W. Tires

I would never use powder coating. The wheels on my 1930 CCPU were powder coated when I bought it in a nice burgundy colour. They have faded to a dirty rusty brown colour and they look terrible. I...

Re: Gas mileage question

My fuel economy vs your fuel economy is a bit like "Which oil do you use?" Everybody has something to say, yet at the end of it all, it doesn't really matter. IMO, we should jusy get in and drive the...

Re: Yard art 28 coupe

I'm not sure how I feel about that but I do know that guy is an idiot. Even though he finally got it right that +ve was ground, he still called it "hot". It looked like a decent set of 16" wheels on...

Re: Glass Wind Wings

I concluded that the problem was a combination of poor quality clamps and the glass being so heavy so I have converted to an acrylic (or is it polycarbonate?) wind wing which is much lighter. They do...

Re: drive shaft diameter question

The pinion bearing lock nuts should be way larger than the drive shaft. If yours are not, I'd like to see a picture. The small drive shaft from the Mitchell O/D is much larger than the original one...

Re: Roads in the old days Australia

This will give you some idea but years ago, the roads were so rough that when you hit a pothole full of bull dust, you couldn't see it and you'd hit it at speed and maybe destroy your vehicle. The...

Re: Starting Issue - Need Ideas!

If the timing is too far advanced, as each cylinder comes up to compression on the starter, it fires before the piston is at the top. That puts enormous strain on the starter which is fighting the...

Re: What can you do with a shop press?

I recently reconditioned the diff in one of my cars. A press would have made that job easier.
