I would check the wire under the points plate too. They can rub the insulation away & shut you down. Took a few days to figure that out......

We had scavenger pipes in Ohio and a had them on a 55 Customline I Block 6 with split manifold. Split 2 & 4, sounded like a V8 at idle. Had to be at work, no time for mufflers, so straight pipes with...

Had a set of Headman headers on a 58 non Ford product with dumps as part of the headers...rather fun to "use a wrench" cause it was cool man, if you had Headman's....

Had an electric 6 volt on my 52 Vic when i got it. Scrapped it, put new Standt 180 stats in it & ran stock fan. Runs 180 most of the time, 190 0n hot days in Ohio.

I've heard that syn is fine in a new build, but to switch from regular to synthetic in an older engine is when leaks can happen. Still like Wolfs Head in an 8BA .......

Excellent reply tubman. So many want to trash the load-a-matic, which works fine as you said with stock carb. I had a Mallory dual point years ago that i couldn't find points for, don't remember what...

I know a dumby who put the freshly charged battery back in the car. Went to lunch, came back & nothing happened. Now whats wrong ? Duuuh; never hooked it up........

The 8BA in my 52 Vic had Merc heads & cam. It ran quite well . When i rebuilt it, found out it had domed pistons. I think those pistons may have helped improve performance...?
