Steering sector gasket needed?

Is there supposed to be a gasket between the steering sector housing and the steering housing on a '31 two-tooth steering gear?

In 1953 I bought a coupe and named it "Edsel". Then 4 years later FoMoCo took away that honor. In 1960 I sold Edsel and bought an un-named roadster that I still have.

You also need to pull the distributor to prevent stretching the armored ignition cable. I forgot and it broke the terminal box.

In 1917 highway superintendant K I Sawyer had the first center line painted on "Dead man's curve" of US Highway 41 outside Marquette, Michigan. Lane markers probably followed.

The rubbercork gaskets can leak if torqued too tight. Paper gaskets can be torqued to 20 ft-lbs but rubbercork gasket will sqeeze out, try 5 ft-lbs.
