Re: Marvel Carburetor Disection

Yes Herb is correct.

One thing to remember is on the Marvel when tuning is the idle mixture screw controls the gas flow so when you turn the screw in, it leans the idle mixture, out enrichens....

Re: attack of electrical gremlins

Good job OU.

When people install a main fuse in the system, I sometimes wonder if it would not be better to wire the generator/alternator to the battery side of the fuse instead of the fused side....

Re: What is this carb?

Yep. They have no name on them because they were sold under different names as stated in post #2. They had a decal with the name of the 'Brand' that are usually long gone.

Re: Seam Sealer on 31 Tudor

I see the vendors sell a 'visor welt' that goes between the sun visor and the wooden header.. I don't know if that helps you or not.

Re: 2nd battery question for electric guru's

While on the subject of batteries, I'm curious if anyone uses 'Battery Oil' in your battery?

Battery Oil was brought up a few years ago by Willie Krash, a member that frequented the Model A site...

Re: Crimp style connector/wiring question

I crimp then use marine shrink tubing, the kind with glue inside. Makes a nice waterproof connection.

Re: Turn signal beeper or other solutions

I drilled a hole thru one of the dash rail screws and installed a green 3mm LED. Hard to ignore that flashing green light......

Re: Exhaust manifold question?

I agree, all will fit your '54 except the truck Rams Horn type exhaust. Altho they look cool, they exit right where your motor mounts want to be.

Re: Unusual extra side trim on 1956 Ford Fairlane Fordor Victoria.

No need to get nasty... :p :p I see they did use the round clock and radio along with the '55 speedo cluster (see below).

I stand corrected... Thanks Mercman.

Re: Unusual extra side trim on 1956 Ford Fairlane Fordor Victoria.

I don't think Autralia used the '55 Dash, USA '55 dash had the round radio and clock.

Re: Vaccum Gauge

Probably not. I had a NOS SW Motor Minder and an empty hole. Cost, not much.

I don't see how installing a vacuum gauge can create a problem. Your other questions aren't worth my time answering...

Re: Vaccum Gauge

I have a Stewart Warner Motor Minder, dial is color coded and pretty self explanatory as long as the needle is steady. If the needle is not steady a vacuum gauge can show many other issues.

Re: U.S.Customs seize Malaysian tires

Now ya see? If ol' Henry had his way he would have grown his own rubber in Fordlandia and made his own tires.

Re: fixed till broke

Ensure the armored wire from the switch to the distributor isn't screwed in to the distributor too far, grounding out the lower plate connection. Common mistake.

Now you're confusing me. "When driving now is reads about 6 amps, when I turn on the lights it does not go any higher." Shouldn't the amps go lower when the lights are on?
