Educate me on distributor

If you have a hairline crack in top of distributor body and replace upper bearing/bushing what problem would crack cause? Wouldn't the bearing prevent the crack from opening any further and causing...

Thanks, that's all I could figure. As you can guess, the important parts didn't fair so well. The impeller was corroded to pieces so the only thing I could save was the housing.

This is a water pump housing from a 31 coupe. It has an oiler instead of a zerk fitting on the snout and bushings, but no packing or bearings. The impeller was pinned to the shaft but had a spring...

It may have broken the tang on the bottom shaft. Haven't gotten there yet. The bottom of the shaft slots are twisted just a bit and the distributor was up just a bit off the head. I am just hoping...

Thanks for the feedback. The shaft is frozen in the distributor by rust and the passage hole through the head also has a lot of rust in it so I guess it was two part question. I have distributor out...

Just wondered if someone had an innovative fix. I've oiled it but the pocket through the head seems to have a ton or rust in it. This is the second one, distributor, to do this. I know I don't run it...
