Re: Fan came apart. CHECK THEM!

Here are some pics I took of my suspect Original and the Snyder Aluminum fan.
You will observe the crack and split that caused my alarm to go off.

I do note the new Synders is 15 5/8 tip to tip,...

Re: Hard time getting fan off water pump.

With all the posts about how hard it is to remove these, I wonder if Anti-Seize/grease/Vaseline/you name it is a good idea to put on the shaft as install? My Andrews book just says put the fan on and...

Re: Shattering Fan Blades - myth or ?

Thanks to all for the quick replies. Larry I was sure you were right - it has to be a ticking time bomb.
My mind was already made up to replace, and the consensus is that the aluminum one is fine. I...

Re: Tire Life.

Interesting question on these. I have been curious what to expect on my Firestone tires.
Those of us who also ride motorcycles have the same pain, 10,000 miles is a good average for tires that run...

Shattering Fan Blades - myth or ?

I'm new to the Model A world and hobby ( another word for money sink, as if I needed another one - grin ) and have been trying to read all I can.
I read about the dangers of fan blades that come...

Re: Headlight Reflector - New or Old

Thanks for both tips. I took Tom's advice and called Bert's - they had a nice resilvered original and its on its way.

Headlight Reflector - New or Old

I took out the headlamp reflectors and was able to polish one nicely. The other seems to be made of plastic or junk fiberglass, and the coating will come off with just finger pressure. Real trash...

Re: Advice to clean a Ford Emblem

Thanks for that tip - a bright light does show on the left a DL and on the right faintly ULD CO, good to know.

I'll bag it then for another day and find a better shape one.

Re: Advice to clean a Ford Emblem

Thanks - I dug back in all the threads about her, and while I imagine the result will be nice, I'm not interested in a $350 emblem. I was hoping to hear perhaps some homebrew or method to just...

Re: Previous Owner filled Steering Box with Grease - Up a Creek?

Like you 700 - I got it to tinker with. I probably had a wrench as a pacifier.

As to your and Marshall's comments, to the inexperienced are the repairable parts something that, like the sector...

Re: Previous Owner filled Steering Box with Grease - Up a Creek?

Thanks Marshall, I may be chasing my tail on the adjustment if as you say the damage is done. I'll just have to put a rebuild in the things to do list. Yes I was a bit surprised to find the grease...

Re: Previous Owner filled Steering Box with Grease - Up a Creek?

Thanks for all the comments! As noted I suspect and hope that just adding the correct oil will create a sufficient mush to do a thorough lube task. I'll just use a pump from a hand cleaner bottle or...

Still catching up on all the Spring rituals needed on my new -to me - 1930 Coupe. This is my first and only so I have been reading Andrew's book and any threads I find.
Trying to adjust the steering...
