Re: Rust Stains on Stainless Steel

I burnished my rusty bumpers and instrument panel with water-wetted aluminum foil. A little elbow grease and follow up waxing and you'll be amazed.

Re: hoky fixs

When we removed the chicken wire/bondo to replace with welded patch panels, she looked like Swiss cheese.

Re: Overheating 1930 Model A

Do you have engine pans? I had overheating issues and went back to the pans and a new 2-bladed fan. Then I had a problem getting her up to operating temp (she ran at about 120*), so I added a...

Re: Jacking Instructions

I use a Sunex 2 ton "low rider" to raise mine. I cut grooves in the top of a hockey puck (which fits the top of my floor jack) to "embrace" the axle to keep it from sliding while I lift her. On...

Next spring I plan on driving the Natchez Trace Parkway in my stock, 1930 coupe. I'm starting from the Alabama gulf coast and I'm trying to work out a timeline. I'd like to drive the actual parkway...

Re: Starting issues when warm

Thanks for the response, nkaminar and bobbader. I think I’ll go the route of exchanging for a rebuilt. With the summer cruising season upon us, I’d like to feel confident in my parts. We’re...

Re: Starting issues when warm

A friend of mine has a spare starter and I put in my car, today. I had already replaced the ground strap and changed it’s position from a bolt on the bell housing to the proper hole on the frame and...

Re: Intake & exhaust manifold torque

Could your muffler not have a passive fit on the manifold? I had trouble with mine seating and pulling open the #4 exhaust port.

Re: Champagne

So, I filled the tank and it still was between 0-1/4; drove home, and the next day the gauge was working. We all have our gremlins, but mine just likes to mess with me.
I guess that the large...

Champagne

A few months ago I started a thread about replacing my gas gauge float with a champagne cork. I am sad to say, but my A rejected the cork today. I wish I could find a beer cork so I could see if...

Re: Starting issues when warm

700:
My engine has several thousand miles on it and compression of 55 lbs. in all cylinders, so I doubt if tight rings and pistons is the problem.
Thanks for the reply.

Starting issues when warm

Hey friends. I have searched the threads and thought I found the discussion, but I can't find it again.
I have an ongoing issue with my starter when the engine has been running at normal operating...

Re: Mitchell Overdrive

I've seen several photos of an install with the shift lever. Could those of you who use a cable please post a pic?

Re: 30 Coupe Cooling question

Bob, if your were asking me about why the thermostat: a couple of years ago I my car was running fine, but had a tendency to get hot if I sat idling for more than 10 min. I installed a temperature...

Re: 30 Coupe Cooling question

At first I would fill her to the top of the radiator and didn't understand that she would find her own level; which, is just above the core. She would overheat if I sat idling for long periods in...

Gauge cork.

The cork float came off my gas gauge so I planned on replacing it with a new synthetic type. The float wire was to small of a diameter to fit the new float and I broke the float while trying to wire...

Angled

I recently backed my A out of the garage and let it warm up for about 15 minutes to do a compression check. The spot I parked in has a slight, 5-10 degree, down-slope. When I moved the car back...

Re: Need Info on Rear Bumper Flag Mount

I wasn’t worried about the bumper because I was driving at “parade” speed. My biggest concern was my clutch.

Re: Need Info on Rear Bumper Flag Mount

I used 2 small hose clamps to secure a large flag to my rear bumper. I use the outer, passenger side bolt that connects the two bumper pieces and tightened the pole to that upright piece. It held...

Re: Benefits of a thermostat?

I just installed a Vintage thermostat and; so far, I love it. I was running hot, so I installed engine pans and the she couldn’t get up to 120F LOL. I tried the cardboard without success, so now I...

Re: Grab handle

Sorry, but after 50 years, I'd be the one going. And as the Cap says "nobody else could put up with me and if she's younger, I wouldn't know what to do with her.";)

Re: Grab handle

Y Block,
I agree. That's a nice, kinda art-deco look. It would be perfect for what I'd like. Most new trucks with running boards have a handle for getting in and out.

Grab handle

Just curious about a design to mount a grab handle utilizing two of the dash mounting screws on passenger side on my coupe. My passengers, especially the captain, seem to reach for something to hold...
