Re: 6 volt flasher and LED bulbs

Simple fix. Just add a load resistor to each circuit. Search on Amazon.

Re: 1930 Radiator Stine Guard

Mac's appears to have them, but they must be extra wide because under "details" it says they protect your lights from the elements.

Re: Turn Signal Flasher 12V

You may find that when you convert to LED taillights, they don't draw enough current to make a thermal flasher work. The simple fix is to add a load resistor to each circuit. Simply t-tap and run to...

Re: Canadian GL4 140 gear oil

I use Pennzoil syncromesh manual transmission fluid which is labelled as GL3 so should be good for older Ford's. They don't list the weight. You can get it at Lordco. No need to worry about brass...

You can read the Canadian version at cmaff.com. It's only a 10 page supplement to the car manual.

Re: Andalusite Blue

Here is an update.

My friend confirmed that his test sample was nitrocellulose lacquer, Ditzler #121. I took it back into the PPG paint jobber, along with the info on his left-over paint label...

Andalusite Blue

I want to paint my car Andalisite blue so I took the NEW paint and finish guide to my PPG dealer to scan the colour chip. They look for the closest match to a more modern carís colour. The only one...

Re: air filter questions...

I modified mine just like 51-merc shows. I found a Fram CA3998 or K&N E2553, which fit a Suzuki Samurai, fit just right. With the lid on there is about 3/4" gap all around for air intake.

Re: Why do you own a Model A?

A few years ago I was in a meeting at work with a number of people who didn't know each other. In order to break the ice, my boss asked everyone to tell what kind of car they drove and why. I said my...

Re: RH Drive Model A

If you look at the Canadian Model A Ford Foundation website (CMAFF.com) you will find Australian instruction manuals which have illustrations of the controls that will show you the differences.

Maxxis tires

I have been looking for small 16" tires for the front of my AV8 project. Most are quite expensive but I just noticed that Coker has Maxxis Taxi 175R16 tires for much less. They appear to be made for...

Re: Ď39 Standard Generator to 12V

I wanted to convert mine to 12V also but was told by one vendor that the 12 V field coils were no longer available, and I couldn't find a used 12V generator to get one from. I ended up ordering a...

Here is a summary of the Upholstery for the 1931 Deluxe/Special Tudor from the Canadian Model A Ford Foundation research material. Mohair was a special order option.

Re: 1939 pedals

Just to clarify, it wasn't the pedal arm that snapped - yes they are forged and hard to bend unless red hot. It was the body that attaches to the master cylinder or k-member. If I had been more...

Re: 1939 pedals

I bought a Drake assembly for my AV8 project as I couldn't find an original around here. It cost me close to CDN$400, but it was the best option for me. I had to bend the pedals to fit through the...

Re: I found a crack in an odd place while pressure testing

I had a very similar crack in an otherwise very solid block. Paid a lot to get it welded by a very proficient welder who heated it in a furnace first then slowly cooled it. I think he used high...

Re: 31 tires

I ordered a set of Goodyear's in March. They arrived in Blaine WA just as the border closed, and there they sit. If I'm lucky I'll have them on my car next summer, and I'll let you know how I like...

Re: Noise in 2nd gear 39 Transmission

Did you replace the cluster gear roller bearings? Most of those available now are imported junk and can fail prematurely. Look for Tom Endy's post below ( under Model A's) or his tech articles under...

Removing valves from a 59A

I just spent the better part of 2 days trying to remove the valves from an old frozen and gummed up 59A that I'm hoping to rebuild. What a messy and horrible job! I read a number of guides on how to...

Re: Self respect

I use a sheet of corrugated plastic. Easy to slide on and lasts forever. Just wipe clean with a little simple green. Save my cardboard for catching oil drips.
