Your correct. I did not install it in one continuous piece. I cut it and installed it in three pieces. One between tank and windshield frame. And one on either side where the tank meets the cowl....

You could get a small bolt with the same thread size (bring the plug with you to the hardware store) and use it to temporarily hold the pump in place.

With the fuel line off the carb and gas valve turned on gas is flying out of there pretty quickly. I’d say there is sufficient fuel flow. So I guess maybe I’ll take the carb off...
