Remove the floorboard and the inspection plate. Rotate the engine with the crank and look for a Clutch Disc Torsion Spring out of place. If so, bummer!

Had that problem on a 31 slant front door. The housing had broken off (welds). Found it at the bottom of the pillar and welded it back in place. Easy fix.
