Re: 1938 woody muffler

Once in a while the originals do turn up in the remnants of their original service part boxes. Mike, please correct me if wrong, but doesn't the original muffler have a 48 part number prefix ('35...

Re: 33/34 spare tire cover fasteners

Tom,

Sorry, but I'm away from my indoor junkyard until the weekend, so perhaps someone else will be able to answer in the interim.

Re: 33/34 spare tire cover fasteners

Tom,

Those are indeed the '33-'34 spare tire cover face plate molding retainers. The '35-'36 face plate has slots, not round holes like the '33-'34 face plate and the molding retainers are...

Re: 1934 ford steering wheel

Unpainted if original without repairs, otherwise satin given your objective of "stock restoration".

Re: Lawson's Fan

Lawson,

Michael is not the only one well aware of the other side of the story. It's high time you stop blaming others for what you brought on yourself regarding the infamous '35-'36 pickup...

Re: Hurricane hunkered TV watching

Given the straight head lamp bar, perhaps it is a '33.

Re: Hershey

Bring your rain gear; there could be lots of it from the remnants of Hurricane Ian.

Serious tidal surge flooding reminiscent of Hurricane Wilma in lower Keys.

Re: Body to Frame Bolts

It is indeed a carriage bolt and obviously the original square hole in the floor or sill is now round. About what's left in the way of alternatives is to weld something to the head of the bolt such...

Re: 33 windshield

Give it some thought in the context of several hundred thousand examples made within a 21 month period (1933 through September, 1934) where plating and plus/minus manufacturing tolerances are...

Re: 33 windshield

Sheldon,

With respect, I believe that you have to at least loosen the screws holding the frame together at the bottom corners in order to open up the gap enough to slide the inserts into place. ...

Re: 1932 Ford Deluxe 3W, Murray Body # informal registry, how many are still around?

Sorry, but that number is neither a '32 deluxe coupe body number nor a '32 engine number, but rather with seven digits after the 18 prefix, it is a mid-1936 engine number. (Ford used engine numbers...

Re: 33 windshield

You're missing the chrome-plated die casting that originally filled that gap at the bottom corners of the frame. No doubt among others, they are available a C&G for $11 a pair and are shown as in...

Re: Aluminum Head difference

Robert,

Regarding your comment in #22 above, my view is perhaps overly simple, but I do not think that there is an acceptable level of corrosion on the heads. If it cannot be milled away without...

Re: A few pics from truck show

An optional at extra cost rear bumper was released fairly late in the '32 model year for the commercial chassis panel deliveries. As you might imagine given how far back beyond the end of the frame...

Re: Aluminum Head difference

Robert,

You're correct as the additional photos make it clear that it is a left side head that is the worse for wear. So this pair are contrary to my own experience with aluminum heads where...

Re: Aluminum Head difference

Robert,

Noticeably more advanced corrosion on '33-'36 right side heads is commonplace, that's why there are more surviving NOS and good used left side heads than those for the right side.

Re: Radiator, Shell & Hood Align on My '32

Please do not start pulling your hair out if over time the lacing is further compressed and the hood moves further down. Between gravity and the springs in the hood latches, the soft white core...

Re: Radiator, Shell & Hood Align on My '32

The holes in the front cross member where the radiator is attached were not oblong originally. Somewhere along the way they either were worn into oblongs (not likely) or someone enlarged them to...
