Re: New Engine from Todd?

BRENT in 10-uh-C,
Thanks for that information. I did not think of, nor did I realize I would be compromising the hardness of the crank. I'll check with the person that did the Babbitt and see what...

Re: New Engine from Todd?

Synchro909, the "B" crank I have had already been machined quite a bit. So going to Model A size was no worry. I cut the mains down to 1.625. The crank still has the thicker casting and as cast...

Re: New Engine from Todd?

Making the larger main bearing caps is yes expensive time consuming. The real work is machining the block to match. Solution is grinding the "B" crank main bearings to "A" crank size and go from...

Re: Mitchell overdrive.

I ordered my overdrive end of June 2022. I received it mid April 2023.

I had forgot all about it, and then a surprise phone call from Steve and he says your name is at the top of the list. Time to...

Re: Ordered Snyders 6.0 head, now a couple quick questions

Yes, check the flatness of the head. My Snyder's 6.0 head was .005 out of spec.

Re: New Engine QA and Paul Shinn's Concerns

That tight spot on that crankshaft would not be acceptable to me. I'd fix it and make it right. That's early bearing failure waiting to happen.

Re: Head Gasket Failure & Replacement Saga

Interesting info about backing off the head nuts before retorquing.

My Snyder head 6.1 had to have right at .006 taken off to get flat. I also had my block surfaced flat so hopefully I won't have...

Re: Burtz Flywheel

Terry, I understand the effects of the heavier weight. However, I'm not building my motor for speed or racing. It should work just fine for cruising and touring.

What about adding a harmonic...
