How about the red coating (some builders use this) which looks like Glyptal from past decades, that's inside the block ? Can that come off and / or does it block passages in any way?

Our SW measures 5 1/4" from top to hole center. Better get some others' input also because I've seen a different spec but can't locate the source.

I have a '31 with the stone guard which I removed because it was putting stress on the upper shell. The '30 may be different due to the 1 piece design.

Check the spring and spider clip as suggested in post 2.. Also, check the copper bushing at the top of the horn rod so it and the rod seats properly so as not to ground below at the switch housing...

You can use a mechanics mirror ($4-5) and small led light and look inside the cover hole to see the dimple centered (At TDC with rotor close to the #1 distrib cover contact, etc.).

Suggest using brads with the smallest heads possible. Drive only far enough to set the panel below the material surface, then pull material out above head with a needle.

Most suppliers don't have lacquer any longer, except in states or local jurisdictions still allowing the higher VOC limits. TCP Global in S. Ca. can color match a dry or wet sample in acrylic lacquer...

Try Silcone based grease with PTFE for the teflon. (not other chassis lubes) Would you rather replace the worn seats over time or the steel balls ?
