Re: Engine Date for Tubman

Just because nobody's posted it lately :

The format is "Letter" (month), "Number" (day of month), "Letter" (year). The letter code is M=0, G=1, B=2, L=3, A=4, C=5, K=6, H=7, T=8, R=9, S=10, E=11,...

Re: Double deckers

Don't take this wrong, but situations like this are why the "Replacement Block" project will never reach fruition. Try to imagine how many times this is repeated throughout this country. And not just...

Sorry about that. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/how-to-flip-uprights-on-49-53-shoebox-ford-drop-hack.1214369/.

The second paste of a pasted URL won't work,

Re: My next adventure

"Before" worked for me this morning. Perhaps it is because he just posted a new link and left the old one which didn't work (and still doesn't).

Re: Holley 4V carb........

If you are going to use the late manifold on the early engine, make sure you understand how the respective crankcase ventilation systems function so you can make the late manifold work properly....

Re: '49 car fuel sending unit testing

Doesn't a 6 volt dry cell cost about as much as a voltage drop unit these days?

I quit buying 'em years ago because of the cost.

Re: My next adventure

I don't think the "Before" picture posted correctly, but the "After" looks great!

Re: Bradley Floor Pans - Is It Still in Business?

I've come to the conclusion that this guy is an artist, not a businessman. Van Gogh cut his ear off and Gauguin took off for Tahiti; it comes with the territory, I guess.

Re: Distributor issues

To be perfectly clear : each set of points is set to 26 degrees dwell, not the total dwell which will end up being more. Use a little piece of cardboard to alternately block each set of points open...

Re: Correct Carb for my 1940 Ford

The O/P said the carb on the engine now is an 8BA, so that is obviously wrong (with the extra vacuum port on the back). You are correct, "Kube" is the ultimate authority on this.

Re: At my age why do I bring these things home?

Could that be a later engine than '49? I'm not really up on '49's and trucks, but the cylinder head on that has the 3 separate mounting bolts for the oil filter. I was of the impression that '49's...

Try this : https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/how-to-flip-uprights-on-49-53-shoebox-ford-drop-hack.1214369/.

Actually, now that I think about it, the pictures in the "Shoebox Central"...

Re: At my age why do I bring these things home?

Hell, I'm 79 and seriously downsizing, but I would have brought that home in a heartbeat. I can fit another engine under the stairs. If the block is good (and I've found the more complete an engine...

Re: Shoebox Central's Steering Upgrade Kit?

There is currently a thread on the H.A.M.B. about swapping suspension uprights on a shoebox to lower it, which includes a good video. It includes a section about the Shoebox Central kit. According to...

Re: rotor to inner distributor clearance

Here's what I know about rotor to cap contact clearance. Too much can cause a high speed miss. I had the 327/350 engine in my Corvette completely rebuilt. After the usual teething problems and...

Re: '51 tudor tail light quarter spears

They were the first thing I took off of my first '51 in 1959 and the last thing I found for my current car in 1989. Since they are the same on all body types, they are around and you should...

Re: My '53 Customline

Your car looks great! Whatever you did to the front fenders seems to have worked very well.

It's currently 19 degrees F in Breezy Point, MN. Fortunately, I'm not there.

Not for four grand (plus all the labor) I wouldn't! And, I already have the half-bell and starter plate (both types).

Anyway, I've got all of the ancillary stuff (lockout cable, relay, kickdown...

Re: 21 stud?

Lawson, here's what I got from "Lanny" :

Hello Denny, say are you still looking for a V/8 60 ?
A fellow here on the barn has one for sale, and some
extra stuff also for a 60.
He is from a...

Re: 21 stud?

Damn, Lawson; "Lanny" just "PM'd" me about a V8-60 and parts for sale in suburban Minneapolis.

Too bad you're so far away.

Re: 12 volt Regulator NOT Regulating

In the "Corvette World", correct functioning, properly dated voltage regulators are very difficult to source. Several years ago, I gutted the case (which has all of the numbers and codes) and...

Re: New 32

Great truck! What a way to start out.

This is a great forum; there are people on here that are experts on everything flathead (and early Ford in general).
