Re: F1 truck MC bench bleed

Pretty much impossible on that design master cylinder. Think about it, the fluid is going to run out when you make the connection and you'll have to bleed it again anyway. The only thing accomplished...

Re: 1949 Ford State Police car

1949 was a long long time ago. It was a different world.

I dare say most "police cars" were standard sedans. Some of the police cars from that era may not have had a radio. If they did it was a...

Re: Cooling system help needed

Brad,
Did you notice a smell of gasoline or exhaust in the radiator?
Years ago my 50 did what you describe, blowing the water out. It was a cracked cylinder.

That engine would run cool at...

If the damage to the heads is visual crack damage I would insist that the block be magnafluxed.
If the heads froze and cracked.....usually the block does too somewhere.

Re: 8ba Head Replacement

Tubman I believe the EACs are just a step below the 8BAs being roughly equivalent to the 8RT truck heads.

Re: installing engine

What engine? What type of engine? What year? What transmission?

I know of guys that have fought this for hours. They gave up and go eat lunch, come back and the transmission mated and slid on...

Re: She looks good but she doesn’t run so good

1. Vacuum leak
It's quite common to see multiple carburetor gaskets on flathead intakes. 2 fresh gaskets are OK but I have seen as many as 4. Maybe this is simply by accident. The bottom gasket has...

To those who've been there, original harness, am I fighting a loosing battle?

I've been trying to get my '51 Coupe road ready. It sill has the original harness.
The brake switch wires are rotten to the harness.

All the engine wiring has been replaced to the harness....

Re: '65 289 rocker arm geometry help

As said those are the wrong valves for that head.

That's OK as you can simply get rail rockers, mid '66 to '77 or so. Those valves have to have rail rockers as darrell said.

I will add that...

Re: How to use a holly model 59 carb on 8BA engine

I discussed this with Bruce Lancaster on the HAMB a couple of years ago. My understanding is it would require a cam change and the early timing cover.

What distributor would you recommend? Vern...

Re: Helmet distributor an a 4 cylinder

I'm going to sat that's Pre-War by the hairsyles and clothing (1940).

It seems I have read or heard something about this. It may have been in a Vern Tardel book or maybe off the HAMB.

There...

Re: Can Not Get Idle Down on Flathead

My first thought is your carburetor. Check the linkage. It sounds like the idle circuit is not working and you are only running off of the power circuit.

You could have a dirty carburetor.

A...

Re: 1950 Ford F1 bed questions

1950 was a transition year in the US. The Ford F1 had 2 beds that year. The early 1950's had the older style beds with the round bottom stake pockets and sculpted bedsides. The later 1950s had the...

Re: Power Nation Flathead

They're very small horses.

These are the same horses that live in 500HP 350s and 450HP SBF 302s.

Re: Did I fry my starter relay?

I think I understand the logic but it's flawed. A Deep Cycle and a conventional battery wired in series is not a good idea. Both are different animals. Deep Cycles are designed to be discharged...

You may have too, just to get it running.

It's not the looseness per say, it's the conductivity. Just because it's been that way for a long time does not mean it's right and not causing a...
