Re: paper filter in oil bath filter container

I had to cut mine up some to convert to a paper element. Looks stock on the outside.

Re: is it ok to run diluted antifreeze?

I have seen charts showing the change in boiling point and freeze protection of different ratios of coolant/water. Sorry I don't have a link.

More water than coolant is "supposed" to dissipate the...

Re: Voltage to points

I converted a chev Accel dual point to replace my Load o Matic a few years ago. Used a Bosch blue coil as suggested here on the barn, recurved it as suggested and haven't touched it since.

I...

Re: Timing light

I have an Innova dial back light that works great on most of my vehicles. Needs 12 volts and doesn't like the solid core wires in my Flatty. Electrical interference. The instructions say to use a...

Re: D44 R&P pattern

I've never built a D44 but, I've built a lot of 9 inch Ford, Toyota and Caterpillar from small to massive. That's a nice pattern. Unless there's something about a D44 I don't know about.

Re: 52 Ford F1 6 to 12 Volts

I did a thread on the FTE forum of my conversion with pics and part numbers for my 52. Am I allowed to link another forum?

I used a stock 6 volt replacement harness and stayed 6 volt for quite a...

Re: F-1 Running Boards

F3 and F3 running boards are longer than F1 versions. They are not reproduced and can be difficult to find. I'm referring to the 48-52 model years.

Re: Block Pressure Test

After getting different opinions on how to pressure check a Flathead block I just did it both ways. With water and also with just air. It's the only one I ever checked so I can't say which way is...

Re: 51-52 ford truck electric wiper

Sorry it's been a while since I worked on mine. Maybe it's the park position? The guys over on FTE might have more info.

Re: 51-52 ford truck electric wiper

I think I used synthetic grease called super lube. I also think thinner is better and something that doesn't dry out and get hard over time.

One thing I found and maybe it was just my wiper motor,...

Re: Original Fomoco shocks

I saved the original shocks from my 52 F3. No leaks and seem to dampen just fine. The rubber bushings are about gone. I can't bring myself to throw them out in case someone doing an "original"...

Re: This distributor setup looks very cool

It's definitely the way things are headed. Not necessary or desired on MY Flathead. Others may choose to put it on THEIR Flathead and I'm ok with that. To each their own.

Re: 48-52 4 speed transmission

My 48 F2 and 52 F3 both had the non synchro T9 (crash box)

I swapped in a synchronized T98 from a 50 F6. It was original to the F6 I removed it from.

The brake pedal return spring goes forward from...

Re: F3 Clutch and brake springs

I just took a look at mine. The spring pulls forward at a slight angle to a hole in the bell housing cover plate. I can text you a picture if you PM your number.
