Re: tow dolly

Uhaul didn't have the wider tow dolly so I rented a trailer. In hindsight I'm glad I did.

tow dolly

I just bought a '62 Flare side and need to get it 75 miles home. Its a 3 speed stick would a tow dolly work without pulling the drive shaft? Nothing on my route is over 55 MPH.

Re: Flathead Carb

I don't know if Holley still offers them but in the past they offered factory refurbish carbs at a very deep discount. Most were returned because the customer either didn't know how to tune them or...

Re: 49-53 distributor

I second Tubman's advice. I'm using a dual point flattop in conjunction with the 390 Holley and am very happy with the combination. Starting, performance and MPG are all good.

Re: Polishing head fins

The easiest way to refurbish a set of stained and tarnished heads is a can of engine paint. Then progressively finer grit discs on an orbital sander followed by polishing compound if you wish to...

For badly tarnished and stained aluminum heads I've found engine paint works best

Re: mallory dual point distributor

I looked into getting one of these and found the gear is not included and the shaft not drilled to pin the gear. For the better part of $400 you think that you would get a complete distributor. Found...

Re: 8BA Carburator Kits

In your part of the country non-ethanol gas should be readily available. I use it in my old car and motorcycle as well as my gas powered lawn equipment. Have had none of the problems associated with...

Re: Distributor to 1951 255 8BA

Not really an advance with a dashpot, I've heard it called a vacuum break or vacuum anti-break.

[QUOTE=19Fordy;1849317]

Also, do you know if it's possible to run a stock 53 Ford vacuum advance distributor using a 390 Holley carb. ? I think the vacuum port on the Holley is not below the...

Re: 8BA doesnt have power

I ran into the same problem trying to find a WCFB in rebuildable condition, prices were $200+. Ended up going the 390 Holley route. Not the look I wanted but performance is good and a dog dish air...

Re: Powermaster alternator

I put an Offy/Holley 390 combo on my '49 and there is a clearance issue. Went with a conventional one wire alt.

Re: My ‘29 V-8

Looks like it is going to be a very nice and period correct build. Any plans to warm up the engine with period correct parts?

Re: 1935 Ford Convertible Sedan Pace Car

The pace car would have been given to the winner Kelly Petillo. A Google search of him may provide additional photos.

Ford entered 10 cars in the '35 race. Only 4 qualified and none finished....

Thanks for all the input. I've decided to bite the bullet and replace the tires with what is on the car now (Coker classic radials). I have a speedo error (60 mph gauge=58 mph GPS). Would it hurt...

Re: cooper tires

Don't know about their passenger car tires but have used Cooper AT3's on my trucks for years. Would not use anything else.

coker tires out of round

Took my '49 Tudor to the local tire shop to have the fronts (6.00R16) balanced because of a vibration. The car came with an extensive service record that shows them install in 2006 and have had about...
