Re: Ok for a quick trip? - NEED INPUT

I honestly think they are SUPPOSED to leak - I've never been able to make mine stop

Re: Ford fasteners Q....

I sold fasteners for years - there are no "quality" lock washers, only broken washers.
If you notice, lock washers were only used on parts that would be removed/replaced often.
Lock washers can...

Tudor door opening measurement

I'm attempting to piece together a '28 Tudor "basket case"
Could somebody give me actual door opening measurements?
Doors are pretty sad as well as the bottom 3"-4" of the body

Thanks in advance

Re: Two ways to install an engine in an open chassis...

Second me for me as well
It's a lot easier to assemble on the floor and install as a unit.
(and a lot less finger pinching)

Re: Headlight madness

Sounds like a ground problem - fresh paint on the headlight bar or fenders?
Try a temporary ground wire from a headlight mounting stud down to the frame, and see if anything changes.
I had to add a...

Re: From Wayne McMichael to Steve Plucker...

Steve
I love the things you come up with - and I'm jealous that you have the 'time' or 'ambition' to dig into these things.
I learn something from EVERY post you make.
It's a shame that we have a...

Re: Bring along Tire Jack suggestions

I have a jack from a '92 Ford F150 (a small gear drive jack) and cut down the standard fold up crank - it fits in my 'tool box' in the back of the pick-up.
An A is not nearly as heavy as a modern...

Re: Car leaning to the left

Well, that just changed my plan - I was blaming my "lean" on a weak front spring
Mine was also disassembled,(front and rear) sandblasted, painted, new bushings, new shackles, shocks - I've already...

Re: Fitting for Old Water Temp Gauge?

Tom,
There is a special bushing made for these (it looks like a standard size probe) the bushing will usually be 3/8 or 1/2npt with a seat inside for the probe to seal on.
Any (helpful) auto parts...

Re: Red Line Hose

I just noticed that I have a 'very soft' lower hose (red line) - I just thought maybe it was caused from my oil cap breather blow-by.
I think I will need to investigate further after your photos

Re: After market 30-31 cowl band

I must have got lucky then, I got mine from Gaslight Auto - but I drove 1-1/2 hr each way 'cause I don't trust UPS with something like that
Fit great

Re: transmission repair

Somebody needed that case in a way, and you can bet somebody spent a lot of time welding that thing up

Re: what would Henry do

Would be a better job than rear window installer on C/C pickups in '30-'31
That was one thing that was definately 'over engineered'

Re: License plates

I have 2 for mine, but one is in need of paint (must have been the front one in it's previous life)
Ohio only requires one, and you have to keep the state issued (modern) classic plate with the...

Re: License plates

I've got a '31 Ohio plate on the front of my '31 - registered to the truck
Not a bad deal here - doesn't expire until 2050 and was only $35 including the Ohio "antique" plate !
One of the few...

Re: Shocks: Necessity or luxury?

Became a shock 'beliver' yesterday - my truck has "modern" shocks (got the kit for free from someone that found a set of originals) but the brackets for the front weren't so good.
I am making my...

Re: Turn signal too slow

Probably going to have to hunt down a 6v flasher specifically for LED's, as they (LED) don't draw enough "resistance and/or amps" (somebody will correct me) to make the flasher work correctly.
You...

Re: Update to poor fit

Made my own, was too cheap to pay for pre-made, and figured I'd have to "adjust" them anyway

Re: place stepplate

I 'step over' as well, but then, I'm 6' 2" and it's easy for me to hit the ground.
I just hate to scuff up the boards, and don't care for the look of the plates

Re: What is your average speed

Mine seems to like 45-50, have seen 55 a couple of times but it really sounds like it's "straining" above 50 mph.
I've only got a couple of hundred miles on it since I put it on the road

Wife...

Re: Zenith carb question

I did remove the plugs (this time) but didn't really find anything
The venturi 'looks' OK
Not cracked or broken - looks round where it's supposed to be, and flat where it should be too.
That was...

Zenith carb question

I've probably seen this info somewhere, but I can't find it now -
I'm getting ready to reassemble a Zenith (2?) carb for my pickup
How do I check the venturi to see if I need to replace it ?
I'm...

Re: I've had enough......

I couldn't stand it any longer, either. Yesterday it was sunny, in the 40's and the roads were dry.
I turned the gas on, flipped the battery cutoff, hit the starter and it cranked over about 5 rev....
