Re: Antique plates
I found a nice original 1928 Montana plate on eBay. The cost depends on the condition, and how rare your year and state is. Mine cost around $75 IIRC.
As far as being legal, it isn't....but,...

Re: How in heck does this thing work? (Nu rex)
To get the timing absolutely perfect, the only way to do that is a perfect TDC in #1 cyl, and a timing light that will determine the very instant when the points open.
To find perfect TDC, the...

Re: How in heck does this thing work? (Nu rex)
OK....that makes sense.
So full up means the spark happens further past TDC than it would have been if timed with spark lever all the way up. I think Shinn meant to be clear about that, but it...

Re: How in heck does this thing work? (Nu rex)
I notice that Paul Shinn uses the Nu-rex, and he times his engine to one notch down. Most everyone else has the spark lever all the way up....including the nu-rex manufacturer's video. pros and cons...

Re: Off Topic, Grandson In Trouble, Phone Scam!
I almost fell for an email scam just a couple days ago. The thief claimed to be an ex-girlfriend who had a rejected purchase for Amazon gift card for her niece's birthday. I responded that I would...

Re: Model B Engine timing advice in Model A
I'm wondering how much practical difference it would make if setting the timing to either 4 or 5 notches. Does it make enough difference to narrow it down to one or the other?
I believe the reason...

Re: Model B Engine timing advice in Model A
Sooo...... If I'm understanding this correctly.....
There are 11 notches on the spark advance lever.
One notch down on the spark advance lever equals 4° advancement of ignition timing.
For...

Re: In line fuel filter
Another option may to use a "stand pipe" in the gas tank. I thought I saw a stand pipe kit in one of the Model A parts catalogues, but don't see it now. If anyone finds that kit and would provide a...

Re: Cabriolet, Sport Coupe?
If the price were right, the things that aren't correct from a picky restorer's POV wouldn't bother me. If it drove nice, it will give someone some pleasurable times behind the wheel......it's a...

Re: 1928 Closed Cab
Too many nice old vehicles are being destroyed by the rodders. Once they are torn apart and modified, their intrinsic value as a restored vehicle is gone forever.
I'd hate to see that happen to...

Re: Swing away shifter
It does seem like there should be a logical reason for this swing away gear shift lever.
Since many of the Model T's didn't have a functioning driver side door, it would make sense that getting...
