Re: 54 Mercury electrical question
In a Positive Ground vehicle of this vintage fuses were in the Negative wire supplying power to the device. Preferably as close to the power source as possible.
Having a blown fuse in a Ground...

Re: Fan Shroud 1957-1959 Ford Big car
I seriously doubt TTC/TS/Lance H. made them on site. Last time I was there I didn't see any kind of that capability, manufacturing equipment, etc. just a large repair shop and a small salvage yard...

Re: Fan Shroud 1957-1959 Ford Big car
Call Concours directly and ask.
Many times online listings are out-of-date, not real-time current information. Especially true of the print catalogs, since they have to be done so far ahead of...

Re: Fan Shroud 1957-1959 Ford Big car
Abe Lugo, I've bought only two things from Timeless Texas Classics/Thunderbirds Southwest/Lance H. in the past and chose not to do so again.
The folks at Bird Nest are light years better, glad to...

Re: Electrical question-54 Mercury
An electrically powered item is grounded to the body, frame or engine where it is attached or mounted to the body, frame or engine. I'm betting it would be very impractical to have the powered items...

Re: 1965 Mustang signal lights
If you have a 2 wire signal flasher they are load sensitive. One bulb may have a poor connection or be a similar bulb that has a different resistance/current rating.
Also check for corrosion of...

Re: Fuel gas tank sender.
What fuel gauge and sensor are in the car now? Original parts, or...?
Was a gauge voltage regulator added, or any resistors?
The originals are a matched pair. If you change the sensor to a newer...

Re: Outside rear view mirror question
I'm almost old enough to remember, but Factory available/optional/installed outside mirrors may not have been a high demand item in the early to mid 50's. They started being popular in the mid to...

Re: 1960 Ford/Edsel Frame VIN location
Yes, a '57 T-Bird.
Depending on the vehicle line, year & model it's my understanding the serial number is 'usually' on top of the right front frame rail between the firewall and front bumper, on...

Re: Frame issues
Depending on how strict the DMV regulations are there in Tennessee they may want to see the serial number on the frame (assuming a '63 has them) when you go to Title or Register the car for the road,...

Re: Correct fuel sending unit found for 1956
The original sensor had heated bi-metal on/off switching contacts. The condenser was there to cut down pitting & arcing on the contacts. It isn't needed on the 'new replacement' or variable resistor...

Don't assume all the original looking wheels on an existing old car are the same, they may not be.

Re: 1957 Ford Continental Kit
57ragtop, I suspect you'll also need to beef up the rear suspension for the extra weight, distance / leverage off the back end of the car.

Re: 1956 Ford gauge Cluster for my 55
A '55 sensor connected to a '56 gauge? I believe it won't work correctly, but never say never.
New replacement wagon specific sensors may or may not be available, I've never looked.
You may...

Re: 1956 Ford gauge Cluster for my 55
'56 didn't originally use a voltage regulator like '57+ did. '56 was originally a full 12 volt setup for the Fuel & Temp gauges. Which may not have worked as they'd hoped since it was changed for '57.
