Re: Thoughts/Opinions on Piston Rings

I'm with you and B&S on this one. Nothing about doing a flathead is cheap. Why cheap out on one of the most important parts of a rebuild?

I noticed the same thing about the reduced friction. ...

Re: Failed fuel shutoff valve

Wait, so part of the stem is stuck in the female threads? If so, they make internal thread removers for plumbing for this exact situation. You can get them in various sizes.

Re: Thoughts/Opinions on Piston Rings

Shoebox,

I could be wrong, but I do believe all Ross pistons can be ordered with metric ring packs. There may be an uncharge, but I believe they do offer it.

I also wouldn't rule out Arias...

Re: Need H10 coke bottle plugs. Got ANY

Two rib and new. A friend of mine gave them to me many moons ago when he was cleaning out his dad's garage.

This conversation jogged my memory and I went to look for them in my stash. ...

Re: Need H10 coke bottle plugs. Got ANY

Haha. I guess I need to bump up my asking price for a set of plugs I've been try to sell at Hershey for years. I just looked at the box last night and I have $150 on them. A lot of lookers, but no...

Re: Need H10 coke bottle plugs. Got ANY

Agree 100%. I do appreciate the fines details to get a car to that level, but if means spending $300 to buy a set of $20 equivalent spark plugs in order to not get points deducted, doesn't make...

Re: What a waste of good thirties Ford bodies.

I think I see a tri-five T-Bird and possibly an early Vette on the top edge as well.

Re: Any tired and true method or suggestions

I didn't, but I can't see why you couldn't. Depending on your compressor settings, the water comes out with a good deal of force.

I keep doing it until the water ran clear.

Re: Any tired and true method or suggestions

Rockfla,

I have a KR Wilson radiator flushing nozzle. It works by hooking up a hose and an air compressor to force water through the top of the radiator opening. You can use it with the system...

Don't agree. The folks at Ross and Wiseco were extremely helpful.

Re: Shifter fork wear

Best way to do that is find a gently used side shift box and use all the gears, synchros, etc from that.

You’ll need a top with the bigger forks, but they are around too.

Re: 12v battery on 6v system?

Plenty of farmers growing up used an 8v in their 6v tractors. Certainly worked then. I still say find the issue. Re-reading your post, you could install a 12v just for starting, but that sounds a...

Re: 12v battery on 6v system?

I think the trick guys have done is use an 8V battery with a weak 6V system. I don't believe you can jump up to 12V battery with everything still being set up for 6V.

Have you checked all your...

Re: Flathead Spark plug Thread Repair

Haha. Good one, Dale. I was thinking of the smaller ones 3/8" for intake repair.

I guess going by pictures on the internet is not the best plan of attack, but they appeared to have a closed...

Re: Cleaning and sealing a gas tank

Does Por-15 make a sealer? There is paint is tuff as nails and I'd assume their sealant would be the same. I've never used it.

I believe Michael @ Third Gen makes a reproduction of the KR Wilson tool for the early synchros.

If you don't have it, purchase Mac's book and follow it to a T. Be prepared to take the trans apart a few times in order to get the clearances correct. It all part of making sure your clearances...
