Re: Dual Side Mounts on 29 Roadster
Thank to Charles Reese for answering my problem. Compared to his,
the longer one is correct. I don’t know where the shorter one came from.

Dual Side Mounts on 29 Roadster
I have dual side mounts on my 29 Roadster, and I just noticed the carrier arms are different lengths. They look identical, but one is about 1-1/2” longer than the other. All the parts books...

Re: Tillotson Carburetor
Thanks everybody. I’m going to put the “Zenith” fix on my 29 Roadstet. I guess I can learn to get along without the smell of gasoline in my garage.

Re: Tillotson Carburetor
Fordfan29 - I thought that would be the best final solution.
Johnbuckley, in his response to my post, said the fuel level should not reach the seam between the top piece and the body. Did you...

Re: Replacing A connecting rod in place
Larrys40- I see you are in St. Charles, MO. I bought an A engine from a guy named Altenbernd, in St Charles, several year ago which I will eventually install in my car. It had been completely...

Re: Tillotson Carburetor
I’ve tried the two gaskets, but I haven’t checked the float level. I will check that. Thanks for the advice. I really enjoy playing with my A, and trying to figure thing out for myself.

Re: Replacing A connecting rod in place
I like ASAPGUY’z story about his Grandfather getting his T back on the road with a piece of leather cut out of a boot. You do what you have to do, sometimes.
I will get my A fixed right, like...

Re: Replacing A connecting rod in place
Again I will say, I was not really thinking about doing this. I was just curious, because of the roadside experience described in Steinbeck’s book. I’ve pulled the head on my A before because of a...

Re: Tillotson Carburetor
It is leaking at the seam between the top and the body. I don’t really know, but I am assuming the top piece is the part that is warped. The top piece has protrusions on it, so you can’t sand it...

Re: Replacing A connecting rod in place
If I was going to do this, I thought I would just mic the crank, and if it was still mostly round, buy a rebabbitted rod the right size, and install it. Wouldn’t that work?

Re: Tillotson Carburetor
Herb - It’s not the body that is warped. It’s the other part. I’ve tried all the methods, I’ve read about, but it still leaks, even with two gaskets. I’ll try the oven idea. ( Then, I will probably...

Tillotson Carburetor
Is there any real way to fix a leaking warped Tillotson carburetor, other than buying a Zenith?

Re: Replacing A connecting rod in place
Thanks for all of the good advice. I knew it would be better to do it right. I was was just curios. It’s not like I’m in the middle of the desert at night with 50 cents in my pocket, like Tom.

Re: Replacing A connecting rod in place
Sounds interesting. Maybe I’ll try it.
I’ve got a bad rod knock, and I have been too lazy to fix it. I’ve got another engine to rebuild and put in 29 Roadster, but no telling when I will get...

Replacing A connecting rod in place
Can a Model A connecting rod be replaced without removing the head or the engine from the car, like Tom Joad did on the 1926 Hudson in The Grapes of Wrath?

Very Tight Main Bearing Bolts
I have a 29 A engine that was rebuilt many years ago, but never installed or run. I'm taking it down (very carefully) to see if the bearings are stuck.
Are the first and second main bearing...
