Re: What is this screw in the center main for?

I pretty sure that it's there just in case the rear main doesn't leak. You know... just to keep it authentic and all :D

Re: Original washers of any style...

I had a leak on my steering box that I couldn't stop. When I rebuilt the box at my friends garage I noticed that the washer on the stud that extends into the reservoir was very different from the...

Re: Steering box help

Steve,
Please let me know how this works out if you do it. I just bought a '54 F100 and can really appreciate how much the steering gear improved between my '31 and '54.

Re: Engine compartment splash pans

I just installed them on my car. I also like the idea that they provide some protection to the carb air intake from road dust and debris.

Re: No spark to #4 - Problem Solved

Actually, you guys helped a lot. Ron in Quincy's comment about measuring the gap between the rotor and the contacts in the distributor body was what came to mind when I noticed that the cap was...

Re: No spark to #4 *** PROBLEM SOLVED***

As usual, when I'm stumped it's usually something simple.

As I started putting my original cap back on this morning, I noticed that the cap moved when I pulled the #4 wire off. I grabbed the cap...

Re: No spark to #4

Mike,
It's a round distributor cap and the condenser is on the top plate. (I have a Simmons HC head on this motor and the traditional style distributor doesn't fit)

To check for spark I grounded...

Re: No spark to #4

Thanks guys. I did change the plug, checked the gap, re-timed the engine and checked the points gap. I rotated the cam and the points seemed to open equally on each lobe. This is a newly rebuilt H&M...

My A is running on 3 cylinders. Checked the spark to each plug and nothing at number 4.

Swapped plug wires - no change
Put in spare rotor - no change
Installed spare cap - no change

I'm...

Re: Transmission Fluid Change

Thanks guys. I have tightened the plug and checked it a few times with no improvement. It's just weeping and hasn't appreciably changed the oil level in a year. I'm fairly certain it is leaking from...

Transmission Fluid Change

I'm about to change my transmission fluid. I haven't done that since I bought the car last year. It may not need to be changed but it leaks past the threads of the drain plug. That makes me...

Sorry Badger. The fellow that painted it passed away and unfortunately the records are gone as well.

Re: Another Ford Maroon Question

Here's my 68C in Ford Maroon. I think it's a great color for that model.

Re: 72 years ago 1940-2012

You must have been restored at some point Tony. You look too good to have been "on the road" for 88 years.

Re: What color to paint my wire wheels-your thoughts

Cream with whitewalls or the color that Ford spec'ed for your color car with blackwalls.

Re: Vac Wiper

You may want to give Bob at A&L a call. He has rebuilt lots of these. The one that I bought from him works perfectly.

Re: Steering box removal

Floor boards, pedals and starter need to come out to get the column up into the car. Of course the Pitman arm and drag link as well. Removing a limber friend from his recliner to help is a plus.:D

Re: 16" wheels from a 35 ford

I just finished this one for a friend of mine. I tried to match a piece of original veneer that he had. I don't think I got it quite dark enough but I think time will take care of that. I used two...

Re: Grease in steering box

I'm not sure that grease would stiffen the steering to the point that you seem to be experiencing. It may be the eccentric adjustment. If you haven't done this yet, I'd suggest following the...
