Just because you're reading 6 volts on your meter doesn't mean you have enough amps to turn over the engine ( or horn or lights etc.) Kinda like a 6 volt flashlight battery will read 6 volts but...

Got her done JW. Thanks. Now, any tricks for the petrified rubber removal and installation? The weather strips are like rocks! Just dig it out the best I can? Doesn't seem to be any other way.

I used to read on here NEVER use antifreeze in your Model A engine. Story was if it ever got into your pan it would eat the babbit. Has something changed?

Sound deadener

Years ago a friend of mine used roofing "Bull Tar" on the inside of his doors as a sound and vibration deadener. Seemed to work as I recall. Anyone ever tried it . I'm at that stage of assembly.

I'd only pull the choke out for one or two chugs or you'll be flooding that puppy and never get it going. Lightly file or sand the points to make sure crud hasn't built up.

If the starter is still there just hook some jumper cables to your car battery and the starter. 12 volts won't hurt the A starter.

OK. What is correct? The service bulletins Larry posted show the springs on either side of the mounting bracket...one on the nut side and the other on the bolt head side, NOT both on one side....
