Re: Longest oil change ever

It certainly makes the bolts easier to get to when the mounts are the wrong way round. If you didn't know the right way you would probably look to putting them in the wrong way first. However, once...

Smile Longest oil change ever

Well today was an interesting day.

Tried to get an oil change done. I always wondered why the existing oil filter was so short. Turns out that the standard size won't clear the engine cross...

Re: Later distributor and a Holley 4000 - aka teapot

Another update.

I found and fixed more vacuum leaks. Several inlet manifold bolts were basically finger tight.

I managed to get to the point where I could Idle the engine right down with the...

Re: Crank shaft flange

Exhaust manifold is from a passenger car by the look of it.

Rocker arms have ecg 6564 a2 which probably means the higher ratio.

Re: Crank shaft flange

The crank pulley looks normal. As suspected looking under the valve cover yielded the ford number for all heads 6090.

The block casting number is above the oil filter.

The heads are ECZ-C... I...

Re: Crank shaft flange

Im now intrigued as to where this motor came from the casting number is ECZ-6015-A. The valley cover has a road draft tube in it. It has a cover on the side of the block where I would expect it to...

Trans is out soon. It leaks a bit too.

I think the rear main seal is leaking too.

Crank shaft flange

Hi there,

I have a 56 ford victoria, M code, with what I thought was the original engine and transmission. I have a clanking noise at idle that goes away with revs and is not really audible...

Holley 4000 Fuel inlet

Does anyone know the thread size or fitting name needed to fit into the brass inlet fitting on the back of the teapot?

Could it be a tapered fitting or a flare fitting?

Re: Strange "Clanking Noise" at Idle

I was looking through the air inlet and outlet. I see the inspection plate now. Thank you.

Re: Strange "Clanking Noise" at Idle

Is there any way to inspect these flywheel/flex plate rivets without pulling the transmission?

I think I have a similar sound at idle that goes away off idle.

Re: Later distributor and a Holley 4000 - aka teapot

Okay. I've finally gotten back to this. There is more to the saga. I found a fuel leak from the fuel inlet plug. The plug you remove to get to the back of the needle and seat. It was leaking down the...

Re: 56 Victoria stock rear drums

Thanks guys. I wanted to make sure they have me "over a barrel".

I might upgrade to a more common rear end in future but my car is basically stock except for a wiper motor and distributor. I'm...

56 Victoria stock rear drums

I've been trying to source rear drums for a 56 Victoria with a stock rear end. Now I know MACs sell some but they are quite pricey and people I know have had quality issues with them in the past. ...

Re: Later distributor and a Holley 4000 - aka teapot

HRR. Thanks. this is where I got the idea for the spark valve plug. I liked the method but didn't want to cut things I had no way to replace or plug easily.

Dmsfrr. Thanks I'll get a vacuum guage...

Later distributor and a Holley 4000 - aka teapot

Hi All,

I thought I'd post my results of using a Holley 4000 Teapot with a 60's y block distributor.

Using a 3/8 UNF block off I have plugged the front vacuum port.
I have removed the spark...

Re: 56 Victoria Wiper switch removal

Made a tool by hand with a file out of an old tiny socket. Works well. I got it out without scratching it up so I'm happy. Cheers for the advice.

Re: 56 Victoria Wiper switch removal

Thanks. The tool looks essential. The seller of that particular one does not ship to the bottom of the world. I might have to make one from a socket.

Read your blog too. Newport wipers seem to be...
