Re: aviation gas

We use it in our small tools in the fire department just for the reason that it doesn’t deteriorate as fast as auto gas. The octane is 100 and others may comment on any effect that might have on...

Re: Loose condenser bracket

Terry,
That sounds about right. Several areas of "restoration" on this nice truck by a well known local fellow have left much to be desired.

Loose condenser bracket

A good friend of mine has had a 1937 pickup in his family since 1937. He'd had intermittent running problems for several years. The truck would start up, go for several miles and then just quit. ...

Re: Mart's Sparks: A turn signal tip from Mart's Garage. Easier than I thought!

Mart,
Great video! What is the replacement headlamp unit you substituted for the originals?
The new 21 watt bulbs are 12v. Are you running 12v or 6v? Keep your tutorials coming.
Thanks, ...

Re: New toy....

I found the hinge pin mirror size inadequate, too. I bought two convex mirror heads from Joe's Antique Auto and replaced the flat mirror heads on both sides with the convex ones. I really like the...

Re: 1939 ford deluxe Starter Button Question

Jim,
I have the same problem from time to time with my 1940 Deluxe starter button. There have been some threads here on this problem. One culprit is that the button is merely grounding the wire so...

Re: 1940 Headlight Bulb:

The problem is that the available NAPA bulb has the small aiming protrusions and the headlight surround will not fit over those little t**s. You can try grinding off the bumps but sometimes you'll...

Re: Is the brake master cylinder filled through a hole in the floor?

Use an adjustable wrench, plastic funnel, drip pan underneath, pour slowly, check level frequently and have paper towels or rags ready when you put that last ounce in the mc and it overflows.....;-)

Here's a picture of a Briggs leatherback from an ad of a few years ago. The light color surrounds in the b&w photo might be the same.

Re: 1940 Tail Lights

I bought one light from Joe's Antique Auto and it fit just fine. The rubber backing that goes on first took some persuading (stretching) so the chrome piece would fit but it’s good and tight.

Re: 1940 Battery

I also have a 1940 and always thought a Group 1 was the correct battery until I tried a Group 2 and found it was the correct fit. Same in my friend's 1937 pickup.
