Working to locate some parts.

Hi,

I am looking for a temp sensor and a oil pressure sending unit for a 1956 Mercury 312. Both are the ones that have the two contact blades coming out the top. I am able to find a temp sensor...

Re: All cleaned up and nowhere to go.

Well I installed the thing back there beside the distributor it for sure fit but it covers a bolt hole. and I am not sure if I may have it backwards or something. I attached a picture for a little...

All cleaned up and nowhere to go.

Hello All,

I am finishing up a 56 Mercury Montclair engine assembly, and it seems I have a couple of parts left over that I can't find a home for. I think that they are markers, probable one for...

Hi All,

I am in the middle of a Merc Montclair power train project. I am finishing off all the pumps and bolt-ons, before dropping it in. I thought I was covered by taking a lot of pictures...

Re: Differential cleanup and reseal

Well KULTULZ, I'm probably a bit on the clueless side of this so I appreciate the advice. I assume the pinion and axle seals have set and dried out and need replaced.

I don't have any experience...

Re: Differential cleanup and reseal

Thank you everyone for the advice, I got it cleaned out last night. Wow what a mess I thought the carb cleaner would thin it down to the point of being runny, and the goo would drain out. I was...

Re: Differential cleanup and reseal

I agree that keeping any grit out of there is a priority. As far as a seal I was able to pick one up online at RockAuto. My plan is to put a thin film of Permatex on the cover and align the gasket...

Differential cleanup and reseal

I am getting started on a 56 Mercury Montclair restore. I found the differential nasty and obviously leaking at the seal. After pulling the plug a little black oil ran out a few spoons full. Next...
